The Color and Textile Design Intern will gain an understanding of the creation of product concepts. S/he will use their educational training to support the creation of original and innovative designs. In conjunction with the Color and Textile Director, the Creative Director of Product and the Product Design Group, the Textile Design team interprets seasonal themes and color direction into printed, yarn dyed and knitted textiles. This person will support the gathering ideas and concepts for use in the seasonal design palette, and commercializing the designs for use.
Essential Job Functions:
Understand market trends specific to color and textile design.
Work with the Textile Designers and Product Designers to develop and illustrate print, yarn dye and knit textiles as required.
Gain an understanding of development with factories and review strike-offs, sales samples, and production textiles.
Learn about the maintenance of textile artwork library and design archive.
Actively participate in textile team activities and inspiration meetings.

Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
Possesses an innate ability to see color discrepancies.
Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible and (at times noisy) work environment.
Participation and understanding of the sports that the Company produces products for.
Minimum Job Requirements:
College degree in progress, preferably in textile design.
Strong drawing and visual presentation skills.
Proficient use of Mac computers.
Working knowledge of Adobe creative software
Experience with textile specific software such as NedGraphics, Lectra Kaledo or Pointcarre preferred.
Extreme attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with a wide variety of people.
Able to work well under pressure and deadlines.

All applicants must be returning to school in the fall of 2017. This is a paid internship at Patagonia, the duration of which will depend on the student’s school calendar. Patagonia will also provide financial support for summer housing and temporary relocation to the area.
