We stand behind everything we make, including our wetsuits. But wetsuits require care if they are going to perform and wear the way they were intended. Patagonia is not responsible for wetsuits that are abused or show normal wear and tear over time. Scratches and fading are inevitable, as are tears from the occasional close call with a fin. A high-performance hooded wetsuit that offers elevated warmth, comfort and stretch, with front-zip entry and a midweight 66% recycled polyester/25% chlorine-free merino wool/9% spandex lining in the torso and thighs. Made for cold water: 48-55º F/9-13º C.

Four words for Ocean Beach: high commitment, high reward. Made with anatomical patterning and high-quality neoprene that meets Patagonia's rigorous standards for strength and stretch, the R3™ Front-Zip Hooded Full Suit offers essential warmth for cold and foggy morning sessions—even through half an hour of sets on the head. The torso and thighs have a 66% recycled polyester/25% chlorine-free merino wool/9% spandex lining for warmth and stretch; the hydrophobic, 67% recycled polyester microgrid thermal lining in the arms, legs and hood dries fast, minimizes weight and offers excellent flex. The floating front-zip provides ease of entry and maximizes freedom of movement through the shoulders and chest, and 100% exterior seam sealing eliminates leaks. Other features include a durable, water-resistant 88% recycled polyester/12% spandex exterior face fabric, hidden key loop and long-lasting Supratex kneepads. All seams are triple glued, blindstitched and internally taped at high-stress areas.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR™ clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.
