We’ve tried out our warmest down jacket for babies in the Patagonia steppe and Rocky Mountain front, and unlike our baby testers, it’s indefatigable. The Baby Hi-Loft Down Sweater Hoody is totally windproof and weather-resistant thanks to a super-durable polyester min-ripstop and polyester plain weave liner fabric, both with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Lofty warmth comes from Traceable Down (600-fill-power duck down sourced from U.S. ducks that are traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked, as certified by NSF, an independent third party), which unpacks from small spaces with its shape intact. Cold season amenities include: quilted 3-panel hood; easy-entry, full-length zipper with wind flap and zipper garage; two zippered handwarmer pockets; elasticized back hem; binding around hood and sleeve cuff to seal out chill.
  • Lightweight, windproof shell fabric has high tear-strength and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish
  • Traceable Down (600-fill-power duck down sourced from U.S. ducks that are traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked, as certified by NSF, an independent third party) is compressible and warm; quilt-through construction keeps down in place
  • Warm, quilted 3-panel hood construction with spandex binding at opening for a secure fit
  • Full-length zipper with wind flap and zipper garage eliminates chin chafe
  • Two zippered handwarmer pockets with reflective webbing pulls
  • Spandex binding around hood and sleeve cuff keeps cold out; elasticized back hem
  • Hand-me-down ID label

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more
