Highly weather-resistant, this duffel protects gear from travel and rough handling. Its main compartment is accessed by a zippered U-shaped lid, which has a pair of zippered mesh pockets on the underside for small items. A zippered exterior pocket holds the stuff you need to access quickly. The padded bottom panel adds structure and helps cushion the load when your duffel gets the baggage-handler treatment. Carrying options include padded, removable shoulder straps, webbing handles with a snap closure and haul loops at either end that facilitate linking multiple bags. Four daisy chains let you lash additional gear to the outside. Made from 15-oz 900-denier polyester ripstop (50% solution-dyed) with a TPU-film laminate and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't have just one. This bag is brilliant. I wish I had more money to have more of them. Colors are awesome and super durable. If someone wealthy wants to buy me another - I'll be waiting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a Mary Poppins Bag I can't believe how much stuff I can cram into this bag! The backpack straps are amazing. So much easier to tote around my stuff, then I can take them off to check at the airport without worry of losing them. I was able to pack everything I needed for 2 weeks in Scotland in this bag with plenty of extra room (although my husband was surprised at how little I was bringing!). I was able to carry on with major international airlines, however budget airlines in the UK/Europe I had to check. He was so jealous I bought him his own and he loves it too. Doubles as a great dog bed while travelling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real black hole! I bought the 60l bag this summer and used it a bit to tote stuff in my cargo bike, but hadn't taken it on any trips until now. And I can now say that I totally understand why they call this thing the Black Hole!! I packed up my family for a 3 day trip to my parents' house for the holidays and it held *everything* except the presents. What did it hold, you ask? The following: Three Eagle Creek packing cubes (one for each of us - and my spouse is NOT a light packer!!); two toiletry kits; my spouse's beanbag pillow; a large hardback book; a large journal; extra coats/hat/gloves for my kid; my Better Sweater vest; and to top it all off, a pair of boxing gloves! Unpacking it was like unloading a clown car. I really love the side carry handles, something I didn't expect to notice much. They're great for jamming the thing into the back of my hatchback. I also like that I can set it on the damp ground for a bit without worrying about seepage, and that I don't have to stress about tears when manhandling it into the aforementioned hatchback. Basically, this thing rocks. I can't wait to take it on some proper adventures. It will get to accompany me from Texas to Vermont next month, and I know it won't have any problem swallowing my snow boots, snow pants, and other assorted gear. I look forward to many many years with this thing. I should probably name it :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great as a Carry On I was looking for a right size black hole for carry on. I was reading reviews and most of them were pointing out that 45L is the biggest size for carry on, but I needed something bigger. I decided to go for it anyway and I was worried 60L might not fit as many airlines have different size overhead compartments. It was fine even on Spirit and United as they have, I think, smallest and strictest requirements for carry on bags. I am attaching picture with the bag on the plane. Fits perfect in the compartment and I was able to fit more stuff in the black hole duffel than my carry on bag on wheels. This duffel is really a black hole. I had everything organized, besides clothes I had camera lenses, chargers, DJI UAV's and bunch of accessories with extra batteries, shoes and warm clothes and toiletries on top. The duffel could fit even more stuff, I was amazed. I cannot comment on how waterproof it is, but I assume it is water-resistant only on the top, bottom is cushioned but it does not look water-resistant. It is very comfortable to carry it with the straps on short distances. It is somewhat confusing which one is left and right, they sit equally on the shoulders. I was able to figure which way by the picture and with the trial and error. Do not expect it to be as comfortable as the backpack, but it is great carrying it as a backpack on your way to the hotel. Definitely not hiking with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wish it had the seams sealed. It's a great bag for the airport or at the fields, but I wouldn't carry it for any real distance. I love that it has backpack straps, but they're not terribly comfortable. The fabric is water repellent, but the seams aren't sealed, which really makes it useless in anything more than a mist. I use it a lot for travel, since it's carry-on size, but on rainy days you need to put it in a garbage bag if you want anything inside to stay even remotely dry.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So many flaws for this price I had such high hopes for this bag for travel. After 6 months using this bag, I have not gotten used to it and it's starting to fall apart. My opinion is that if you want a duffel bag for travel, find a cheaper opton because you are not buying additional quality or attention to detail at this price unfortunately. My first general issue is about the usability. This bag is hard to actually pack full. The opening doesn't unzip the whole top of the bag so it's difficult to pack the top or bottom of the bag (referring to backpack mode in terms of top/bottom). Similarly it's difficult to access these parts of the bag when it is packed. Next the side pocket, which the entire duffel can pack into, is just awkward and floppy. If you pack it full, the the rest of the bag becomes difficult to pack. If you leave it empty and just use it for after though items, it's way too large. Cute that the entire duffel ships in this pocket but the pocket itself specifically designed as packaging, not as a useful pocket. It's just silly. Also it opens from both the outside and inside of the bag so you can't actually use a padlock to lock up the bag. An opportunist thief won't realize this but I don't like the feature. In terms of actually carring the bag it is super uncomfortable to carry for more than a kilometer or two. It's also uncomfortably sweaty pretty much the instant that you put it on. Next there are 'internal compression straps' which make absolutely zero sense. I've talked with Patagonia on several occasions and in person at stores and no one can explain how they actually work or why they are installed at this stupid rotation within the bag. It's an afterthought and they serve no practical purpose. Finally, the bag is not as durable as people say. The seams are coming apart at the base of the shoulder straps on mine. This bag has been used for 6 months, usually full with 15 kg. My travel partner's osprey bag of the same weight and size has gone through the same exact conditions (plus some) and it's showing no wear at this point. The only thing this bag actually has going for it is the great colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Airplane Travel This bag holds way more than I expected. I just completed a 6 day trip and only used half of bag worth of clothing. It fits perfectly in a plane's overhead bin at full capacity. The pack dimensions may be a little larger than they allow but if you wear it as a backpack, you can sneak right on. Awesome internal tie down straps to help you extra pack the bag. Backpack straps may be a little confusing at first, just slip both plastic sides through each other.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Versatile Bag This bag is the best bag I own and is my go to. First thing is that this bag fits perfectly on all of the airlines
