Highly weather-resistant, this duffel protects gear from travel and rough handling. Its main compartment is accessed by a zippered U-shaped lid, which has a pair of zippered mesh pockets on the underside for small items. A zippered exterior pocket holds the stuff you need to access quickly. The padded bottom panel adds structure and helps cushion the load when your duffel gets the baggage-handler treatment. Carrying options include padded, removable shoulder straps, webbing handles with a snap closure and haul loops at either end that facilitate linking multiple bags. Four daisy chains let you lash additional gear to the outside. Made from 15-oz 900-denier polyester ripstop (50% solution-dyed) with a TPU-film laminate and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Black Hole® Duffel 60L is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 140.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Duffel Bag I love this duffel bag. Its fairly weather resistant, its convertible, its easy to pick out of a group of luggage (I have the white/turquoise), and it seems extremely durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great versatile and well-designed duffel! I bought this duffel about a month ago and am very happy with it! I know Patagonia's products well but hadn't tried the Blackhole series. I'm glad I did. If you're looking for duffels, you've come to the right place. The main question you'll need to answer is: what size? My sense is the 60L is probably the most versatile size. Great use case - Weekend trips (recent example: carried two pillows, a blanket, half-liter bottle of wine, cork screw, pear, chocolate bar, two notebooks and pens, and a water bottle) Pros - Materials: Good mix of TPU-film laminate and 900-denier polyester ripstop. - Attachment points / carrying: The handles feel good in the hand and the shoulder straps are surprisingly comfortable to use. This is important because if it didn't feel good in the hand or strapped to your back, you're less likely to use it. - Styling: Well-executed Patagonia styling that makes the bag outdoorsy and athletic but also smart enough to be around town. - Compartments: Just the right number. Too many or too few zippered compartments makes finding things difficult. This has the right number and size. Cons - A bigger opening into the main compartment? The main U-shaped opening isn't as big as the full top face. If it was bigger, it'd make packing things in and pulling things out a little easier. But maybe there's a good reason an opening of this size was chosen. - Only one I can think of is whether the bag could be made a little lighter: what if a lower denier polyester ripstop was used? Patagonia has a Lightweight Blackhole series but it's straps don't seem as comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect, almost... Initially I used this for a 13 day solo trip in Cuba as my main pack (had a small day pack for said purpose that I would pack into this duffel on big moving days) and it was big enough for my stuff plus a little room to spare for a handful of things I gathered along my way. Super durable, taxis, airports and rough neck Cubans didn't even knick or abrade it in any way. The two mesh pockets are useful and good on utilizing the lids underside. It stays open easily so you can rummage through down to the bottom corner if needed. The outside side pocket was nice for things needed on hand frequently (visa, tickets, map etc). Backpack mode was easy and comfortable for moving around, although not designed for extended periods of walking it was fine for walking across Havana one day. Grab handles make it easy to toss around or throw into the overhead on flights too. Changes I would suggest: Make the external zipper on the side pocket lockable for when one leaves it in say a hostel or couch surfing type situation. Clearly if someone wants in they'll just cut it, but at least being able to lock that access point gives one a bit more resistance to get into the bag. Or figure out how to make that convertible pocket only have one zipper. Bummer one can get into the main compartment from that side pocket. I now use this duffel so much i dont even bother stuffing it away, its now the go to for pretty much everything I do. Highly recommended!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bag! Description needs improvement. I bought this bag to use because I don't need that much space, but based on the descriptions, I didn't think that it would be this small, but I can manage. So far, it seems like a great bag though. The DWR is a great addition to the piece as the conditions near the cargo handling can be unpredictable when traveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Family Favorite! I bought four of these for a backcountry ski trip in British Columbia this past Christmas. Each family member had there own color. The size was PERFECT for a week long trip. The backpack straps are awesome and the bags themselves look really cool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't have just one. This bag is brilliant. I wish I had more money to have more of them. Colors are awesome and super durable. If someone wealthy wants to buy me another - I'll be waiting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a Mary Poppins Bag I can't believe how much stuff I can cram into this bag! The backpack straps are amazing. So much easier to tote around my stuff, then I can take them off to check at the airport without worry of losing them. I was able to pack everything I needed for 2 weeks in Scotland in this bag with plenty of extra room (although my husband was surprised at how little I was bringing!). I was able to carry on with major international airlines, however budget airlines in the UK/Europe I had to check. He was so jealous I bought him his own and he loves it too. Doubles as a great dog bed while travelling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real black hole! I bought the 60l bag this summer and used it a bit to tote stuff in my cargo bike, but hadn't taken it on any trips until now. And I can now say that I totally understand why they call this thing the Black Hole!! I packed up my family for a 3 day trip to my parents' house for the holidays and it held *everything* except the presents. What did it hold, you ask? The following: Three Eagle Creek packing cubes (one for each of us - and my spouse is NOT a light packer!!); two toiletry kits; my spouse's beanbag pillow; a large hardback book; a large journal; extra coats/hat/gloves for my kid; my Better Sweater vest; and to top it all off, a pair of boxing gloves! Unpacking it was like unloading a clown car. I really love the side carry handles, something I didn't expect to notice much. They're great for jamming the thing into the back of my hatchback. I also like that I can set it on the damp ground for a bit without worrying about seepage, and that I don't have to stress about tears when manhandling it into the aforementioned hatchback. Basically, this thing rocks. I can't wait to take it on some proper adventures. It will get to accompany me from Texas to Vermont next month, and I know it won't have any problem swallowing my snow boots, snow pants, and other assorted gear. I look forward to many many years with this thing. I should probably name it :)
