When the sky’s so low he can practically reach up and touch it, the all-weather Boys' Hi-Loft Down Sweater Hoody makes sure he can keep his head in the clouds. Lightweight, exceptionally warm and compressible, it has a 1.4-oz 20-denier polyester mini-ripstop shell with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish to foil wind, rain and snow; lining fabric is polyester plain weave. The quilted-through Traceable Down (600-fill-power duck down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) maintains warmth and stays put even after relentless use and washings. Cold-weather essentials include a quilted 3-panel hood, full-length zipper with wind flap backing, two zippered handwarmer pockets with reflective webbing pulls, adjustable drawcord at hem and spandex binding on hood and cuffs to seal out drafts. Internal zippered chest pocket doubles as stuffsack.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more

Boys' Hi-Loft Down Sweater Hoody is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not up to par This jacket is obviously beautiful, as well as lightweight and warm. My picky son gladly wore it daily until it got a huge rip in it from our dog jumping on my son while playing outside. A week later it got a secong huge rip from our neighbor's tiny dog playing with my son. It just seems like a very flimsy material for a kid's jacket. IMO kid's winter jackets should be bomb proof as we all know how much action they have to endure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome all around winter coat This coat is great for walking to school in NYC and can be use as a ski coat. It's just a great all around coat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cozy and Comfy I have three of these coats, one for each of my kids, and I love them because I never have to worry if the little ones are warm enough. Down is so comfortable and not bulky that sometimes my son forgets to take his coat off when he comes in. The only thing I don't love is that the outer material is very thin and rips easily. Two out of three of ours have ripped within a year.
