Groundswell: A Small Film About Making a Big Stand is Chris Malloy's follow up to his film 180º South (also on DVD). Surfers Dan Malloy, Trevor Gordon and Pete Devries set sail on a 68-foot sailboat guided by the Raincoast Conservation Foundation into British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest where a pipeline and oil tanker proposal looms. The team explores waves and a rainforest full of life while learning of the potential irreversible consequences of this project from local First Nations leaders. This DVD of Groundswell beautifully and profoundly captures the spirit of a wild place, and the passion of the Heiltsuk people who are committed to protecting it.

Groundswell Dvd is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Picked up the DVD at the Patagonia store in Chicago (Lincoln Park) a couple days ago. The cinematography of this film is utterly fantastic, capturing a part of the world I love more than most. Then, when the message is delivered, the reveal that all we are seeing in the film is threatened (I'd kind of forgotten there WAS a message, so wrapped up in the scenery I'd become) hits like a boot to the guts. How can anyone watch this and think it's okay to risk such a critical ecosystem? A must-see for everyone. My only complaint is I wish it were about 3x as long, at least.
