Everyone else flocks to warm rock, relishing the T-shirt weather in the sun, but you’re busy chasing early-season snow and ice. Our Down Sweater’s featherweight, superbly compressible warmth is for you. The 100% polyester ripstop shell on this down jacket does more than look sharp; it’s snow-shedding and windproof. Details include 800-fill-power Traceable Down (European goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked), stabilized with quilted-through construction, a contoured fit, a drawcord hem that tightens from inside the zippered handwarmer pockets and an interior chest pocket that doubles as a zippered stuffsack with a carabiner clip-in loop. Nylon-bound elastic cuffs seal in heat, and the DWR (durable water repellent) finish sheds moisture.

Traceable Down Insulation

All Patagonia virgin down is certified to the Advanced Global Traceable Down standard by NSF International. The Advanced certification level means our down suppliers conducted audits all the way back to the parent farms to ensure there was no live-plucking and that broader humane animal welfare standards were faithfully observed throughout the supply chain. Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Men's Down Sweater is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 246.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable I was looking for something light, warm and comfortable and the Down Sweater has met all my expectations. I wrestled with laying for the first week but now have the right combination. I’ll 100 miles north of Toronto and this time of year it does get “fresh” I contacted Mona at Customer Service and she answered all my questions and concerns. It will be a 4 season item for me. Well done Guy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from if you can only have one.. 4 years and still going strong. From Tahoe to Maui to New Jersey, this is the one jacket that has got me through all seasons on all coasts. Just add a different base layer for the temps. from Fall Surf checks to Winter shoveling, pack it and go anywhere. Got some burn holes from bonfires but nothing some super glue could fix. Worn Wear On!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent, with a few flaws I got this jacket in a medium. I am 6'3", 165lbs, and have long arms. All in all, the fit is great. It's listed as a 'regular' fit, and I would say that's accurate. It's not slim to the point of hugging my midsection, but definitely not bulky. Probably the perfect balance so you can wear it over a t shirt, or a thicker layer. Arms are long enough for my go go gadget arms. I got the smolder blue, which I love. Great classic color, kind of navy with some gray in it, and I love the contrast of the black zippers. I find it to be well made, no weird stitching, the down fill is balanced in every section, and the zippers work well. I appreciate the little bit of fleece on the inside of the zipper around the chin for warmth and comfort. The hand pockets are fairly large, definitely big enough for my XL hands. I wish they were fleece lined like my previous Mammut jacket was, but I will deal with the nylon. Onto the flaws. 1. The drawstrings for the cinch hem are inside the hand pockets, which I find annoying. When the cinch is fully open, you have the little nubs to fiddle with. When the cinch is tight, you have the long elastic strings in the pockets to negotiate. The cinch should be handled inside the bottom section of the coat, wouldn't be hard to do. 2. The inner chest pocket is massive, as it is designed to be the stuff pocket for the entire jacket. I get that. Unfortunately, this means it's not well suited for storing other items. For example, if you were to stash your phone in here, it would drop down and rest all the way below your rib cage. If wearing the jacket open while storing said phone, it makes the left side hang out a bit awkwardly. So there's not really a great storage pocket for wallet/phone/glasses if you're looking for that. A smaller zip chest pocket on the outside of the coat would do the trick. 3. Nothing to do with the design, but the way the jacket was packed/folded before shipping out, leaves some less than desirable creases in the arms and chest. The arms are most obvious, and I am hoping these come out over time. All in all, it's one of the best in the category, and I love supporting Patagonia, knowing the down is ethically sourced, recycled materials are used ect. I don't think the flaws I listed are deal breakers, but I am going to try on a few others to compare.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and Compact This was my main jacket when I was travelling to Europe, no regrets. The ability to pack into itself is very important to me, so thumbs up for that. When travelling through France pickpockets is a big issue, so the internal zipper pocket made me feel safe while in the Paris metro. Slight problem: whenever I would put my phone and wallet (and sometimes a portable charger) into the internal zipper pocket, it would usually weigh it down. This made the jacket uncomfortable to wear and usually I resorted to putting my phone in my backpack, which was very inconvenient for whenever I wanted to take a picture. I think an identical internal chest pocket would solve the weight problem. Overall I loved the paintbrush red colour and the design. Worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty Close to Perfect This jacket is super comfortable to wear, and you have excellent mobility in it. I never feel restricted in my movement. It's very warm relative to the weight, and not a struggle to stuff it in the stuff-sack. I wear this under a Torrentshell parka and they fit together beautifully. I purchased this in the Forestland Green and love the look. Super cool yet subtle pattern -- I've never seen anyone wearing anything like it. My only qualms: I'm not a fan of the drawstrings the pockets. They don't hold and get in the way. Would prefer the traditional placement at the hem. Also, the fit is a little boxy. The hem is tight below the hips, so it rides up quickly. But that might just be my frame. Overall, a perfect do-everything mid-layer.
