Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Men's Fitz Roy Frostbite Polycycle® Full-Zip Hoody is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Breathable and cozy! I've had this hoody for three months now, and have enjoyed it! I love that its breathable and wicks moisture. Plus, it's made from post-consumer content -- major win! The hood is generous and large, the pockets are a good size for hands, and hold an iPhone 6 well. What I'm not wild about: this is a roomy hoody on me (6'2" and 145 lbs soaking wet). So granted, I'm a skinny guy. But I have another hoody (different manufacturer) that is rather form fitting (an athletic fit perhaps), so when comparing it to that--it's roomy, but certainly not baggy. I wear the Medium, and the shoulder width and arm length are spot on. The length on my torso is great, too. I love to pull my hoody sleeves up on forearms. The cuffs on this hoody give very little (no elastic), and have a hard time staying up on my arms. I notice it most when doing the dishes, trying to pull my sleeves up, and they slide back down. And a very minor thing: the zipper could be a little better quality? It's a YKK, so maybe quality isn't the right word. It feels a bit plastic-y and chunky. May be able to refine it a little...(really, that's a very minor thing--I'm being picky). I'd recommend this for cool to warmer settings. It's a touch thin by itself in some colder settings. But it's thin enought you can pair it with a vest or shell just fine. I wear it to work and around the house a lot. I imagine this will be a great summer evening hoody. I feel like Patagonia has a great start here, and with some minor adjustments, it can be even better. If you're looking for a casual hoody, this is a great one!
