Drift boat. Flats skiff. Creek trail. Airliner. Supermarket. We created our Guidewater Pants specifically for situations where you might need, well, pants. Water-specific features, including a zippered side-leg pocket, mesh drainage in all pockets and a remarkably fast dry-time make these the fishing pants of choice for anglers. But in truth, the comfortable fit, zip fly and motion-friendly waist with stretch sections and belt loops make the Guidewaters ideal for pretty much any activity. Which is to say, if you wear pants—and we bet you do—you may find yourself wearing these everywhere. bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product suggestion I have a couple pairs of these (or similar) Patagonia wading pants and like them, but I find they are a little whimpy for rough approaches through brush, etc. I looked at the field pants, but they are not quick dry fabric. Here is a product suggestion, make a knock-off of the Guidewater with light nylon reinforcement on the thighs. I'd buy a pain in a heartbeat - and would recommend them to clients!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Wet Wading Pant on the Planet These take a beating in wet wading and bashing through the scrub and hold up better than any other fishing pant I have worn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable Light and comfortable range of motion not restricted sitting, kneeling over the gunnel to RELEASE fish or on and off the poling platform the pants do the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What can't these pants do? I bought these pants because my butt and waist are too big for many pants. The light weight but rugged nylon construction and nice looks makes them suitable for a myriad of activities, such as working in the office, commuting on the bus, fishing, hiking, camping, computing extinction probabilities on the computer using R, kayaking, doing yard work, going on trips, etc. I count on Patagonia to develop clothing and gear that are optimal for multi-tasking, and they seldom if ever let me down. On many occasions I have slept in the same clothing that I wear to work. Patagonia gives me consistent quality and versatility.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice pants Haven't worn these quite enough to know how they'll hold up but so far am pleased with the fit and color. The material was a little heavier then I expected which means they will dry slower but last longer then my favorite pair of patagonia pants which finally gave up the ghost last year. I did find that the pants are a little tight when I try to take a big step up which I found surprising. Not sure why this is as most of my older patagonia pants have had a great range of motion.
