Organic Cotton

In 1996, with an increased awareness of the dangers of pesticide use and synthetic fertilizers in growing conventional cotton, we began the exclusive use of organically grown cotton in all of our cotton products.

The quality of organic cotton is equal to or better than conventionally grown cotton, yet organically grown methods support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, improve the quality of soil and often use less water. Growing organically takes more time, requires more knowledge and skill, and, for now, costs more. But it’s worth it.

To ensure we are buying cotton that is organic as defined by the USDA’s National Organic Program, we require numerous certificates issued by an accredited third-party certification body for every step of the supply chain, from farm to factories.

Men's L/S Cayo Largo Shirt is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite shirt I own As many have tried, I have been in search of the ideal fishing, breathable sun shirt for a long time. I've always been a cotton guy but appreciate the quick-drying breathability of some other materials. I sometimes find that poly shirts hold odor and irritate my skin if I'm really moving around and sweating. Cayo does everything I need it to. I would classify the material as a super lightweight cotton that dries relatively quick. I've worn it fishing in the Florida Panhandle in June where I often times take a dip with it on to cool off; it dries quickly. Also been worn wading and on drift boat in TN, KY, GA & CO; stay cool. I like the internal zipper pocket behind the normal chest pockets. When its cooler outside, I wear a long sleeved Capilene 2 or 3 underneath. I've got a couple Island Hoppers which are good too, but if I were to have 1 fishing shirt the rest of my days, it would be the Cayo. Mine runs a little smaller than Island Hoopers in large. Not sure if it shrunk a little big since it is cotton. Fits me really well as I am truly a 40-42 in chest. I'm really in between M & L on most things Patagonia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from travel shirt I’m 5 foot 7 inches, 32 waist, and 38 chest. This puts me at the dividing line between a small and medium size. The small size in this shirt is cut slightly larger than other small shirts I have and is a perfect fit. There is some wiggle room around my torso and no “pull tight” wrinkles. The only downside is sleeve length. I will have to wear this using the second button on the cuff, or with the sleeve rolled over, or rolled up to mid forearm. I bought this as a summer airplane travel shirt. I wanted a light nice looking long sleeve shirt. Light for hot humid weather on the East coast or mid-West. The long sleeves for those occasions when they crank up the AC in the airplane cabin and when walking into a freezing hotel lobby. Also, a bit more formal than wearing a short sleeve shirt for dinner. I washed the shirt in a sink and rolled it in a towel before hanging it up to dry. It dried overnight but defiantly requires ironing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from If you're ripped like me, this shirt isn't for you OK, so I'm not ripped. Just thick around the middle. But if I were throwing line on the flats, I'd be limited in movement. Please, Patagonia, be a bit more forgiving, will ya? Great shirt material, but needs more room. For me anyway.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking. relaxed cool The texture and tailoring of this shirt make it a nice casual evening shirt. It is lightweight and supremely comfortable. A perfect humid summer evening or travel shirt. I recommend sizing down. I originally ordered a medium and it fit me like a box. I am 5-8", muscular and in pretty good shape. I sized down to a small and it fit perfectly. Nice and tailored as represented by the model in the pictures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best hot weather shirt yet... I disagree with a previous review that complained about how the shirt looks out of the drier..if you dry it on low heat it comes out looking like a linen shirt. It's not a starched business look, its a casual summer look. This shirt is very light, very cool in hot weather-just got back from Palm Springs where it was 115, and the shirt was great. The hidden zippered pocket is large enough for travel docs. Best, it doesn't retain body odor at all, unlike most of the other hot weather shirts out there. I don't know how tough the fabric is, I've been wearing the Island Hoppers, which are nearly indestructible. My only complaint is the boring colors, but maybe that's what comes with this light a fabric. BTW, it's a slightly slimmer "relaxed" cut than the Island Hoppers, which are cut full enough to breathe.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice looking, poor fabric I really liked the fit and the way this shirt looked up until I washed it for the first time. It came out of the dryer a complete mess and ironing is a must. Plus over a couple of washings the shirt has shrunk at least a half size in all directions. I really think this material/fabric is a poor choice because of the wrinkle and shrinking issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great New Fishing Shirt A comfortable to wear shirt which feels like it keeps you cool in our warmer weather. It launders well and appears to be pretty stain resistant. I like the sturdy construction.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just breakin it in So far, so good. I usually have a hard time finding a shirt that fits my shoulders and arm length (high ape index as friends call it) that doesn't balloon around the waist. This is one of them that fits well all around. I was pleasantly surprised by the feel of the fabric, softer and more comfortable than I thought it would be. The small check pattern is pleasing and gives the shirt some character. Looking forward to using it this summer when the heat is on.
