bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Men's Los Gatos Hoody is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought a second jacket I loved my first Los Gatos enough to buy another a few years later. These are great to be paired with a waterproof shell on cold, wet days. The hood comfortably accommodates a beanie. With a long sleeve baselayer, you can stay warm down into the 30's if active. I know the knock on these is lack of insulation in the sleeves, but it's never bothered me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it As always, superior quality. The only issue I have found with the Los Gatos is over time my seatbelt mats down the "fur" in a line across my chest!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks and feels nice but lacks utility Being athletic and on the slim side, 5-10 and 155 lbs, I decided to purchase the small as the sizing states it is a regular fit. This is definitely a slim fit and is tight around the chest and armpits. I am hesitant to exchange for a medium because the torso and sleeve lengths fit perfectly. Perhaps I am between sizes? Sigh. Unfortunately, the sleeves of the hoody do not keep me warm and overall, it is not very comfortable. I went for a walk in 55 degree weather with a tee underneath and I was beyond cold. The polyester is very soft and nice but the sleeve material is just too thin. I really did want to like this product! I will be returning this non-functional item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Fleece I wasn't sure at first about this item. It's expensive, it's thin...I figured the high pile fleece looked soft which is what I was looking for. I was so wrong! First off it's insanely soft, possibly the softest garment that I own. And that ultra-soft fleece is on the outside and inside of the torso piece. As to it being thin, it is indeed, which is another of its greatest assets. Unlike most of my fleece garments (which are, let's say on average, up to twice as thick physically) it moves around much more freely, almost more like a heavy shirt than a sweater/sweatshirt weight/volume. BUT...somehow that doesn't seem to have made it less warm. It is, in fact, also one of my warmest fleece jackets. The efficiency of this material is quite impressive. The sleeve material is also pretty comfortable and, like the torso, offers little resistance to mobility. Fit wise it seems to run a bit on the smaller side in the chest but the sleeves are pretty long (and I have relatively long arms). The large fits me very well (many garments that fit me well in the arms/overall length are a bit large in the chest; this does not have that issue). I have a different (less soft but equally) high pile fleece from Patagonia and it has worn excellently, I'm expecting this one will also be quite durable. I don't generally splurge on clothes like this. I made an exception on the hope that it would be the softest, most comfortable jacket I ever owned. Somehow it actually managed to live up to that impossible expectation. Well done, Patagonia.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super Cozy The fleece is super thick and extremely warm. Definitely warmer than I thought it may be. Great looking as well. It's listed as a 'regular fit' yet fits me exactly like other things I have, like the R1, that are listed as slim fit; Minus the hood, which is definitely not a snug fit, and can easily go over a hat. If you're looking for more of a regular fit overall definitely order a size up. I have really loved this fleece this fall, gets pretty chilly where I live in Wyoming but it's kept me warm. I imagine it will be great under the coat in the winter as well. A good plus to this piece is the super cozy hand warmer pockets.
