When the itinerary has you bouncing between trains, hostels and trails, this lightweight, breathable top will keep you warm, comfortable and welcome among friends. A heavyweight of versatility, our Merino Midweight is a wonderfully soft jersey knit suited to a wide variety of activities across a wide range of conditions. Merino wool is naturally breathable, regulates body temperature and stretches. It's also wonderfully soft and naturally resists odor. Ours is sourced from the grasslands of Patagonia. We slow-wash it for softness and shrink resistance, without the use of chlorine, then blend it with 20% Capilene® recycled polyester for durability and for dry times and moisture transfer superior to that of 100% merino. Features include a self-fabric collar with internal neck tape for chafe-free comfort, full underarm gussets for unhindered shoulder mobility, elastic thumb loops for secure hand coverage, low-bulk merrow seams to minimize chafing, offset shoulder and side seams to lie smoothly beneath pack straps, and a drop tail for additional coverage. Machine wash cold; machine dry at low temperatures.

Men's Merino Midweight Crew is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Multipurpose I have worn this fishing, hunting, winter trail running and everything inbetween. Performs great. Goes days on end with no stink. I was worried initially about stink issues with the synthetic being part of the top but I have had NO issues with that. I would like the forearms to be a bit more fitted but other than that its a great top! Thanks again Patagonia!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable but fragile The Merino wool is light weight, comfortable to wear, very warm and not itchy to wear like i thought it would be. However, it is very fragile and tears easily. You have to be very cautious putting on and taking off or you risk ripping the fabric. I have ripped the fabric just tucking it in. I would not consider this baselayer very practical for frequent use. I am considering synthetic options for the long days on the hill. I wanted to love this base layer but is not very durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable against the skin Was worried about being itchy. It isn't bad at all. Wore on some very, very cold days as a base layer in Dec '15 on days -10F snow skiing and it worked well. It isn't very thick, but it is very warm.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from if looking for a base layer, go with the synthetic I had originally purchased this as a base layer for riding my motorcycle in NY city in the winter. I ended up exchanging it for the Capilene Midweight Crew. I found the merino to be very itchy. Also, the nature of the fabric is quite fragile, so the thumb loops tear easily from the garment. Considering that Patagonia had to put out a public statement concerning the source of their Merino, I think their Capilene synthetics are the way to go.
