Read More Close
Keeping in mind those who redline in the alpine, our Nano-Air® Light Hoody represents another step forward. This light, stretchy, extended-range midlayer quickly became a tester and ambassador favorite due to its dynamic insulation and sweet-spot breathability. The fabric package sheds snow and maintains the same impressive stretch as our regular Nano-Air (100% stretch nylon shell and liner), but it’s three-quarters more breathable and a third less insulative (using 40-g FullRange® 100% polyester stretch insulation)—meaning, you’ll never need to take it off. The stripped-down, deep-venting pullover silhouette remains trim through the midsection, while the engineered pattern eliminates seams across the shoulders and back, thus removing abrasion points and enhancing comfort. The hood works alone, under a helmet or stretches over lower-profile helmets, and the polyester/spandex stretch-woven cuffs are shaped, patterned and seamed to reduce bulk when layered and allow easy push-up without constricting the forearms. With an exterior left-chest zippered pocket.
  • Light yet durable 100% nylon ripstop shell and plain-weave liner, both with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, offer generous mechanical stretch and exceptional breathability
  • Revolutionary 40-g FullRange® insulation warms and stretches; combined with the shell and liner, this creates excellent mechanical stretch and unprecedented air permeability (70CFM)
  • Engineered pattern avoids all seaming across the shoulders and back, eliminating abrasion points and enhancing stretch
  • Stretchy hood with elastic binding is warm and simple
  • Pullover silhouette has deep center-front zipper to allow for quick venting and easy on-off
  • Exterior left-chest zip pocket
  • Stretch-woven cuffs are shaped, patterned and seamed for low-bulk layering, and push up easily without constricting forearms

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Men's Nano-Air® Light Hoody is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Piece Fit: I am 6’2”, 145 lbs and have long arms. The medium is a perfect fit. Warmth: Slightly (by design) less warmth than the regular nano air hoody. This piece perfectly fits a niche where you need moderate insulation for cold weather aerobic activities. The hood is amazing and cuts the cold very well Weight: At just under 11oz, this piece is light enough to never leave behind Compressibility: The only downside. This fabric/insulation does not compress as well as other primaloft material and does not tuck into its own pocket. I have stuffed it into a small stuffsack and clipped to my harness, however the nano puff carries much better. This aside, if it’s cool enough to be wearing this (below 60F) then you likely never need to take it off. Breathability: Exceptional, this is where this piece shines. You can put it on and leave it on for cold weather, high octane pursuits. I have come close to overheating on hard rock leads in the alpine, but as soon as you stop, things cool down quickly due to its amazing breathability and deep venting zipper. It keeps me warm enough at most belays and if it is windy I simply put a Houdini on and that ramps up the warmth considerably. Summary: The nano air light hoody is my go to piece for cold to moderate weather high octane pursuits – Alpine rock climbing, cold weather cragging, back country skiing, winter trail running above 8000ft. This piece really shines the most as a backcountry skiing layer. Whether it be the coldest of January days or a warmer spring day, I stay comfortable while going up the skin track with this and a cap 1 t-shirt. The hood is amazing as it cuts the cold but is breathable. I also use it extensively for cold weather rock climbing, especially in the alpine. There is no better cold weather trail running outer layer. Amazing piece!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The new go-to jacket I'd been wanting a Nano-Air for awhile. I have a Nano-Puff and it's great, but I like the material and stretch of the Air. I just couldn't justify the purchase until it came up on the end of season sale, then I had to go for it and I'm glad I did. It's like a sweatshirt only more comfortable. I like that it's a pull over rather than a full zip so the zipper doesn't bulk. The only thing I'd change about it are to loosen the cuffs a bit; I can't slide the sleeves up because the cuffs are snug but it's not worth knocking off a star. Still a 5 star jacket. I'm 6ft and 170 and the Medium is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Initial Impressions This winter I went to my local Patagonia Outlet and saw this colorful hoody on the rack across the store from me. I took a look and made note. Needless to say, I came back at least once more to check it out and "almost" get it. It quickly went on my wish list and I bought my first one in June as a Birthday present. First, a favorite trait of Patagonia gear is distinct colorful designs. This is no exception. My Viking Blue (with orange trim) is eyecatching and tasteful, but not too trendy that it will fall out of fashion in a year or two. Second, it is VERY light weight. Throw it in a pack and you do not know it is there. Third, the simple design works. One pocket, great snug cuffs, a nice average sized hood, and a deep front zipper. Fourth, the face fabric has a rip stop pattern that makes it a bit more durable than the standard supple Nano-Air face fabric. This gives me a little more confidence that it will last years with no issues (fingers crossed). With a very hot summer here in Utah, I only recently broke it out on a trip to Grand Targhee when temperatures dipped into the 50's at night. Perfect warmth. Great looks. Easy to put on and off. Appropriate for the summit and walking around the Bluegrass Festival. It has been in the pack on recent hikes and other trips and will be a first to grab jacket. For those that have not, I suggest that you watch the video on here that describes the features. I say that because it perfectly explains why it is what it is. Let's say that when you put it on you will see that a lot of work went into designing this deceptively simple piece. So what are the downsides so far? First, Patagonia is consistently inconsistent with fit. It is irritating. Simply said, this "trim" fit means that it hugs you and if one of your dimensions is not "ideal" it will not work. Best to try it on if you can before buying. If you can't, order up a size if you are a bit bigger in one area otherwise it will be too tight. Unlike other "trim" Nano Air coats, this one fits smaller than others. Makes sense considering it is meant to be nimble. I set this issue aside because I know to look for this when I buy. Second issue--the snug fitting hem is great now, but a draw cord might be a good idea in the future. Surprisingly, the hem is snug but not too snug and I get the impression that it will work unless I lose a lot of weight very quickly. Third, folks will gripe at the lack of pockets and a hood that is only one size with no real adjustments. And last, another given, it is very expensive for what it is. I bought mine on sale. However, the design does justify its value. Biggest endorsement? I could not resist getting the orange version as well...albeit on sale. Looking forward to using these A LOT more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bomber Piece I've quite few different Patagonia pieces over the year. This is far and away the BEST piece I've ever owned. It has become my day to day piece. Perfect for spring/fall days skiing in the Sierra or as a layer under a down piece on the colder days. I cannot say enough good things. I'm 5'11" and weight 205 lbs with an athletic build. The Large fits great.
