Additional Information

Unlike any midlayer bottoms you’ve ever worn, the Nano-Air® Light Pants deliver warm, stretchy, breathable performance for moving fast in cold climates.

Read More Close
Stretchy, warm, snow-shedding and breathable, our Nano-Air® Light Pants introduce a new concept for moving fast in cold climates. We designed these pared-down, pull-on pants as a midlayer, though the fabric package extends the range of use in all directions: they excel whether worn alone, under or over layers. The ultralight, 100% nylon stretch shell and liner resists weather and slides with layers, yet the superb breathability and light insulation (40-g FullRange® insulation) lends unprecedented versatility. The elasticized waistband has an internal drawcord adjustment, and the invisible crotch zip (with 2-way head-to-head sliders) pairs with the Galvanized Pants for full alpine performance. The poly/spandex stretch-woven cuffs are shaped and patterned to push up easily, and either stretch over or tuck into an alpine boot. The simple, no-pocket design is patterned to reduce bulky seams and maximize stretch in this slim-fitting silhouette.
  • Light yet durable 100% nylon ripstop shell and plain-weave liner, both with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, offer generous mechanical stretch and exceptional breathability
  • Revolutionary 40-g FullRange® insulation warms and stretches; combined with the shell and liner, this creates excellent mechanical stretch and unprecedented air permeability (70CFM)
  • Patterned to reduce bulky seams and maximize stretch in a slim-fitting silhouette

  • Zip-through crotch has 2-way, head-to-head sliders for easy pit stops

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wader underpants I use these as insulation under my waders and they are excellent for that role. Very warm, but very light and comfortable, so they don't bunch up or feel constricting under the waders, which fleece can be (particularly very thick fleece).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ski version needed Make a boot cut version and everyone would buy them. Can't wear with ski boots or alpine climbing/ice climbing boots. I'm thinking about just cutting off six inches and sewing elastic in. Just a shame to have to do so. Good for cold weather fly fishing I might add because of the trim/tapered cut.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purchase in Ages Holy Moly. These are like the most amazing sweatpants I've ever worn in feel, but they're also incredible for layering on super cold ski days, cold bike commutes over tights, and part of a shady-day ice climbing system. Notably though, these have also become my go-to pants when I'm just kicking it around the house. As I said before, basically super soft, super light sweatpants, but way better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Midweight Insulation, make a ski version! I have had these for a few months now and they are an excellent piece. I throw these over my boot-length cap4 pro tights and they are perfect in all but the coldest of ski days at Whiteface (which will get -20F to -40F including windchill a couple times a season). The problems: 1. They are a bit too tight to pull up out of my ski boot comfortably. 2. If my ski sock falls down under these pants I have to completely take them off, which means taking my ski boots, and shell pants off in order to fix my under-layers. 3. It would also be nice to be able to add them or remove them from under the triolet shell on the move without having to remove boots and shells. The solution: Keep everything the same, but make it boot length with a low profile full zip! This is the best insulation I have found for under shell pants in my 5-year search, if it were boot cut and full zip, the holy grail for skiers will have been found!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not quite I'll buy these immediately when they: 1) are 3/4 length and/or are possible to wear with ski boots 2) dont have the climbing wraparound zipper maybe theyre a 5/5 for climbing, for ski or really any other general cold weather wear - not for me. When am i going to be outside when its cold enough to wear these but not be wearing boots? The ankles are far too tight to fit over any sort of boot, and are too tight to scrunch up at the need on top of boots - they cut off my circulation. So basically you can only wear these with really low boots/ whatever people ice climb in/ sneakers?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome pants Got these pants for Christmas without seeing in person and decided to order large as I did not want them to be too tight. I'm 6' 185 with a 33-34 waist. I definitely have room in the waist but draw string helps. I really like the cuffed bottoms as it keeps them from falling over my shoes. Also helps when wearing under waders, what I plan on using them for the most. I have worn them in 10-15 degree weather with steady wind and nothing on underneath but boxers. I think they look fine as a substitute for warm-up or jogging pants. I also think the full zipper (goes from front of waste to back of waste) is cool to give some airflow. I haven't really had a problem with it. They are also lighter than the nano-air jacket, hence the "light", but that's no big deal to me. Bottom line is that I love these pants and are now my go-to for anything that used to involve sweatpants.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost what I was waiting for I love my nano-air jacket and have been waiting for Patagonia to make matching midlayer pants. These are interesting, but I was expecting the same mid-weight insulation as the jackets with just a simple zippered fly. The long two-way fly on these isn't uncomfortable, but I think that fly is the reason why the crotch area had to be so large, and it's really useless for anyone not wearing a harness. Think SNL's Mom Jeans skit. The fit is excellent everywhere else, and the sizing is accurate. I really wanted these pants to wear under softshells for ski touring on cold days, but they are not as warm as I was hoping for. Maybe Patagonia will make a second version that is skiing specific with just a normal zip fly, 3/4 length, mid-weight insulation, and no pockets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All day comfort I bought the Nano-Air Light Pants for cross country skiing. And while they are great for skiing, paired with R1 tights, I have mainly been using them outside during snow removal work. They are warm, and absolutely dry. Great product.
