Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

We use PrimaLoft® insulation inside insulated garments for its warmth, compressibility, and soft comfort. While the human body uses energy to stay warm, PrimaLoft insulation uses a patented microfiber structure to help the body retain warmth and conserve energy.

The proprietary ultra-fine fibers of PrimaLoft insulation form a tight collection of air pockets that trap heat from your body and keep the cold out, providing an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. When insulation gets wet, it loses these air pockets and consequently, its insulating properties. PrimaLoft ultra-fine fibers were developed to be water resistant so your insulation stays drier and maintains its insulating properties even when wet.

Men's Nano Puff® Jacket is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 68.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beware: New Nano Puff's Smaller than the Old. I have owned and loved one of these jackets for several years; and liked the one I own so much that I decided to purchase another one in a different color. The new jacket I just received is significantly more tailored than the one I now have - to the point it almost looks like a women's jacket and I can't begin to get it zipped up even though it is the exact same (perfectly fitting) jacket that I now have. In working with a wonderful customer service rep at Patagonia, I was able to determine that I would have to now go to a size larger to get a proper fit through the chest and body. The problem with that option is that the length of the jacket and the sleeves of larger size jacket are both an inch longer that my current (perfect) one; and this additional inch would make the sleeves of the jacket too long (even for my 35 inch arms). The bottom line is: This is an awesome jacket that you will love . . . but only if you are skinny and don't plan to layer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade I have about a 10 or so year old version of this type of jack that was before nano puff but also not down that was getting a little long in the tooth. The material was starting to show its age. I didn't really need a new one but grab one of these last year when they were discontinuing a color. What a great coat and it is an upgrade, fit is a little better and so much lighter weight wise for the same warmth. it is not going to get you through a cold winter day but a late fall/ early spring go-to jacket for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just a great jacket I decided to retire my first Nano puff after 4+ years of wear, thorn snags, and campfire sparks, even though it was still holding up great. I got the same exact jacket again because it's awesome. Light, warm, and easily packs down for travel. The old one is either getting passed on, or going to the Patagonia recycle program.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yet another great product Wanted one of this for a long tie and finally got one for a trekking trip to Torres del Paine. Jacket did not disappoint... it packs up light and easy and was perfect after long days on the trail... or during some of the inclement weather we encountered. Jacket has enough features for what you need but is sleek enough to fit under a shell or other gear. If anything (and this goes for most all jackets on the market) I wish it had double zippers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not just a climbing or skiing jacket! A fantastic, versatile jacket that performs very much as stated. It is warm without being too warm or constricting, fits well and layers without adding excessive bulk. I bought it primarily to keep me warm when riding my horse (although it will be going to the mountains of Colorado next month) hence didn’t particularly want a bulky jacket. The Patagonia size guide and advice on sizing was spot on - sizing suggested XL but offered L for a slimmer fit which was perfect. In summary, a fantastic multi-use jacket that is not just for the back country!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect every day ski baselayer under shell This is my go-to piece under any shell jacket 10-35 degrees. Enough insulation to keep you warm on the lift and not overheat on a hike. Stays warm if damp as well. I’m comfortable in a large. I’m 6ft, 195 and usually use a 42R suit jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around cool weather jacket I have had this jacket for a year and a half, it was my go to jacket at least 3 times a week. The fit was perfect for me, 5'8, 150, 31 waist, a small was just barely tight in the waist and hip but loose enough towards the chest and shoulders that it gave me good movement, maybe a bit loose in the forearms but I almost always had it pulled up my forearms unless it was pretty cold. I got lots of compliments on it, classic piece with neutral styling that could be worn in the woods or on a chilly Sunday morning to church. With the fit it gave the appearance that I had a larger upper body, good for me, a thin runner. I think if I was an inch or two taller and 5 or 10 pounds heavier I would need a medium, but I could have probably been fine with a medium, I am kind of in the middle. It was too small to layer underneath, I could fit a flannel and that's all, but it was great for skiing, layer a shell over it. The temperature range was about 40 to 60 in the Bay Area with a t shirt underneath, but when I came to Utah for college it was good maybe another 5 degrees below that, I suspect because of the humidity difference. So it isn't as warm as a down piece, I'd say my ghost whisperer is a bit warmer, I'd even say my nano air is warmer, although that one is newer. My main gripe with it was durability, the brick quilting looks great and holds the insulation firmly in place, but there is a lot of stitching that can come undone. I noticed loose threads around the elbows and cuffs, high wear areas. The actual material was pretty good for the weight, only had one or two tiny holes where I had been a little careless. To be honest, I kinda beat the heck out of this jacket, I am pretty clumsy walking around and I'd bump into concrete and bushes occasionally, I've rock climbed in it, I've even done car and bike maintenance in it. The only things I would fix are the cuffs and forearms being pretty loose and the stitching being not very durable, however this is not meant to be an urban everyday jacket, it's intent was probably more technical and less destructive activities. I actually recently returned it because there were better options for what I was using it for, which was everything; I now have the fjord insulated flannel jacket for around town and an R1 for technical endeavors, I see the value in diversifying now. If you can't afford two jackets then get yourself this jacket if you're looking for a do it all, just treat it nicer than I did. The only competitors in this category I can think of would be the nano air, Arc'teryx atom LT, and TNF thermoball, all worth a look.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Get the next size up unless u are a string bean Very nice coat however the size chart is misleading. Ordered the Large because of my shoulder size and the coat fits my shoulder witdth of 44 but is too small in the arms and body. I lift weights and am not overweight, my arms do not fit in the sleeves and the body is also slim. Tried the XL in another color and that fit great. Very disappointed to find out the color I want (Smodler Blue) is now sold out in the XL. I will be returning the Large coat, and hopefully they get more in stock soon.
