Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Insulation

We use PrimaLoft® insulation inside insulated garments for its warmth, compressibility, and soft comfort. While the human body uses energy to stay warm, PrimaLoft insulation uses a patented microfiber structure to help the body retain warmth and conserve energy.

The proprietary ultra-fine fibers of PrimaLoft insulation form a tight collection of air pockets that trap heat from your body and keep the cold out, providing an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. When insulation gets wet, it loses these air pockets and consequently, its insulating properties. PrimaLoft ultra-fine fibers were developed to be water resistant so your insulation stays drier and maintains its insulating properties even when wet.

Men's Nano Puff® Jacket is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 73.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Jack. Only One Gripe. Love this jacket. Only wish it wasn’t so tight/narrow in the armpit area where the body of the jacket connects to the arm. Patagonia please fix this so i can buy another! A femal friend who owns this jacket also has the same issue.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Seams a little weak. I've had two of these jackets since November and both of them have had a seam on one of the boxes pull out, I'm very careful with the jacket, but it still happened twice. If this was fixed somehow on a future model I would get another one. Until then I would have a tough time recommending this jacket, which is unfortunate because I love everything else about this jacket.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love the product poor sizing I have an older version of this jacket and love it but this latest version isn’t even close to the sizing of the older one. I am 6’ 2” and weight 183 lbs and the sizing calculator told me I was a large. My older Nano Puff was a large and fit me perfectly. This one is way smaller in the shoulders and not close to fitting. I tried an XL in a store and although the shoulders fit the body was way too large. Wish I could buy another one with this sizing it’s a no go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must Have Jacket I purchased this jacket in the winter of 2016 and it has easily been one of the best purchases I've made. It is deceptively lightweight, which makes you think the slightest cold breeze would make its way to your core. Boy, is that a lie. Not only is it wind proof, it is quite warm as well. It is great for just about any activity and I frequently use it in sub 30 degree F weather. I am also well pleased of its durability - I have had no issues with insulation or noticeable wear - it looks exactly the same as the day I first put it on. Y'all, this is akin to the mithril shirt Frodo put on in the hobbit (sorry, not sorry for the nerdy analogy). The elements should fear you when you wear this. Also, the forge grey is the ticket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile This jacket is light and packable but adds serious warmth. I use it daily around town and it keeps me comfortable in moderate temperatures. I then wore it XC skiing in 10* F and overheated to the point I soaked the jacket with sweat and ended up skiing home in my T-shirt. I also wore this alpine skiing in some pretty nasty weather at 13.5k and again ended up overheated. It's breathable but really traps heat when you get working. It will not keep you terribly warm by itself when static in true cold weather, but I find it ideal for even the coldest temps when doing something active. I am 5'11, 185 and a medium fits me with room for one mid-weight layer underneath the Nano Puff. With my frame a small was too narrow in the shoulders.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beware: New Nano Puff's Smaller than the Old. I have owned and loved one of these jackets for several years; and liked the one I own so much that I decided to purchase another one in a different color. The new jacket I just received is significantly more tailored than the one I now have - to the point it almost looks like a women's jacket and I can't begin to get it zipped up even though it is the exact same (perfectly fitting) jacket that I now have. In working with a wonderful customer service rep at Patagonia, I was able to determine that I would have to now go to a size larger to get a proper fit through the chest and body. The problem with that option is that the length of the jacket and the sleeves of larger size jacket are both an inch longer that my current (perfect) one; and this additional inch would make the sleeves of the jacket too long (even for my 35 inch arms). The bottom line is: This is an awesome jacket that you will love . . . but only if you are skinny and don't plan to layer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade I have about a 10 or so year old version of this type of jack that was before nano puff but also not down that was getting a little long in the tooth. The material was starting to show its age. I didn't really need a new one but grab one of these last year when they were discontinuing a color. What a great coat and it is an upgrade, fit is a little better and so much lighter weight wise for the same warmth. it is not going to get you through a cold winter day but a late fall/ early spring go-to jacket for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just a great jacket I decided to retire my first Nano puff after 4+ years of wear, thorn snags, and campfire sparks, even though it was still holding up great. I got the same exact jacket again because it's awesome. Light, warm, and easily packs down for travel. The old one is either getting passed on, or going to the Patagonia recycle program.
