Spring steelheading in southeast Alaska is defined by small streams, big fish and weather that qualifies as winter in the Lower 48. Fortunately, you don’t have to give in to the elements. Our Nano Puff™ Pants are made with recycled, low-bulk 60-g PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco for a wading experience described by one of our ambassadors as “floating in toasty, puffy warmth.” Perhaps even more important, the Nano Puffs maintain warmth even when wet—a critical factor in any under-wader insulation. Thanks to the lightweight 100% polyester fabric with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, and their reinforced seat, zip fly and handy pockets, they work just as well outside of waders as in. Which means, if you’re like us, you’ll keep wearing them in camp or around town long after you’ve hung your waders up to dry.
  • 100% polyester shell fabric has a DWR (durable water repellent) finish; insulation is 60-g PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco 100% polyester (55% recycled)
  • Elastic back for comfort and fit
  • Two front slash pockets
  • Button front and zippered fly

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

We use PrimaLoft® insulation inside insulated garments for its warmth, compressibility, and soft comfort. While the human body uses energy to stay warm, PrimaLoft insulation uses a patented microfiber structure to help the body retain warmth and conserve energy.

The proprietary ultra-fine fibers of PrimaLoft insulation form a tight collection of air pockets that trap heat from your body and keep the cold out, providing an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. When insulation gets wet, it loses these air pockets and consequently, its insulating properties. PrimaLoft ultra-fine fibers were developed to be water resistant so your insulation stays drier and maintains its insulating properties even when wet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great design. Wore them and stood in thigh deep 40 degree water for over three hours. Total comfort. After fishing can slip off waders and go to the store without looking like an idiot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super comfortable and warm! I bought the puff pants to use as a mid-layer under my Gore-tex shell pants. I tested them in single digit temps and they kept me very warm even while riding the chair lift. They are also great for lounging around the house too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from toasty I like the color, fit, pockets and belt loops. I am usually an xs in men's pants but the waist was very small. The small fits great-room for layers. Have worn them in 5-45 degree weather doing outside chores. I wish for a zipper at the ankles as this would make them even more useful to be able to pull over my running shoes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and light weight I bought this a couple months ago for my husband and he has used already in several winter camping trips. It was a great purchase, lightweight, warm and packs small. He really likes the reinforced button and the tigh and bum reinforcement, wished it had also knee reinforcement and a stuff sack though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fly fishing My husband is an avid fly fisherman. Fishing the toilet bowl below Ruedi Resorvior can be really cold in winter. He has been very pleased.
