Read More Close
The pitch of a lifetime rises above. Whose lead? Rock, paper, scissors: best two out of three. Throw your magic and rack up. Our RPS Pants were crafted for unrestricted movement on techy routes. Made from a nylon/polyester stretch-woven blend with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, they’re our lightest-weight rock-climbing pants. Minimalist detailing includes a crotch gusset and articulated patterning, a separating zip-fly waist with belt loops and our innovative OppoSet™ adjustable closure, and cuffs that cinch with an ultralow-profile shock cord and friction knot. With two drop-in pockets with mesh backing, two rear pockets that double as a reinforced seat and a right-thigh zip pocket that stays clear of leg loops.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Men's Rps Rock Pants is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best pair of hiking pants I've ever owned If you read my other reviews, you'll know I'm hard on Patagonia - while I love their social mandate and values, I'm not overly impressed with the quality to price ratio of their products. These pants are the exception. And even though I got them for 50% off, I'd buy them full price in heartbeat! I never thought I would find a pair that beat the pants off my Prana hiking pants. They're often considered the gold standard. But I like the RPS way better. They're lighter, come in better colours, are more fitted, tighten at the bottom, and are tough as nails when it comes to abrasions. I know because they should be torn up by now given what I do when I'm backpacking. These are simple, cleanly designed pants that rock (couldn't help myself). The extra lightness of the material and cut is great, especially if you get wet. With my Pranas the cut is too liberal, when they get wet there's so much extra material to bog down and add weight. Love these pants, highly recommended. Looking to purchase another pair myself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight but durable My second pair. The first is still active after many outings hiking and backpacking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Strictly fit related - too short I went to the store to try these on and tried on two pairs of size 30 RPS rock pants, both were too short and after measuring themBOTH pairs are 30inches in length. These pants only come in one length, and the pants that come in three lengths at Patagonia (short, regular and tall) the short ones are a 30 inseam, so why would these ones be a 30 length, if they're only making the one length. This doesn't compute for me, other regular length pants made by Patagonia, size 30 waist fits me in the length but these ones are far too short. They're great pants otherwise, wish I could find them in the correct length for my legs. Disappointed to be leaving the store without pants.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Material, Questionable features Bought these a few months ago as a lightweight pant to summit Shasta and as a general climbing pant. I'm happy with the durability of the material, and the construction is great with a few quirks. I normally wear 32, but ordered 31 to try to get a shorter inseam. The pants are still huge and fit a like PJs. I should have ordered a 30, but i should have been able to order a 32 and been satisfied with the waist size. The Oppo-Set waistband thing is hokey, and only adjusts one side of the pant, so I actually had a bruise from my pack's hip straps pressing on all that bunched fabric during my ascent. They also just loosened up after a bit and I had to readjust a few times, but not that big a deal. I guess the pants are designed for beanpoles because the pants have 4 inches of spare fabric at the base. You cannot hem them because of the shock-cord, which is actually a nice feature to manage all that fabric.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light as feather..... I found these to be the lightest pair of pants I own. The way they are stitched provides maximum movement when on the rock and in the harness. I recently took them up to the high Sierras and felt completely free and comfortable all day in them. I also enjoyed the quick cinch ankles for adjustability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fabric! but... The fabric is great, the tiny belt is kind of funky once is pulled, sometimes releases itself (approaches). Not a problem with a harness one. I love the string at the bottom of the feet. Really comfortable over all. I really dislike the Patagonia side pocket, is like a triangle form... and not big enough. you barely fit a bar or an old version of telephone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable Fit - Quality Material Only used the pants a few times so far but I've been really impressed. They work great as a rock climbing pant and also as a hiking and backpacking pant. They feel lightweight yet durable and the DWR is so nice to have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Pant Bought these for some lite treking in Greenland and Iceland. Lite weight, comfortable and overall great product. No complaints!
