In theory, chasing Indonesian surf and bonefish for weeks on end is like going to heaven; in practice, it’s really damn hot. To make sure you’re covered, the Sol Patrol® II Shirt is made of lightweight, quick-drying polyester ripstop with 30-UPF sun protection. The double-layer collar stays put with hidden snaps at the collar points; it can also be worn up to give the back of the neck extra coverage against the rays. Cooling mesh fabric at center back and side vents is receptive to any breeze, providing comfort in the most sweltering conditions. The two button-through chest pockets are mesh-lined; there’s also an inset zippered pocket on the left chest for travel security.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shirt Great short for everyday. Cool breathable and stays looking good. Have 3 of them and love all three. This is one of many fishing style shirts I have and in my opinion the best of the bunch. You won't be disappointed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool as a cucumber I use this for long walks here in WV in the summer and at the beach in NC. Both are HOT and HUMID in the summer. This is a great shirt. It it is loose and rests lightly on one's skin and stands a chance of catching the ever so slight breeze on the worst days in WV. Looks good, too. Holds its shape and has good lines so you feel like you could wear it to a restaurant if you needed to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do all shirt I only chose "other" as a use activity for this shirt because there was no "all purpose" selection. That is how I would designate this. I bought this as a replacement for a polyester overshirt that I purchased from Patagonia 27 years ago and just recently (sadly) wore out. It was my "go to" shirt for everything and that is exactly why I picked this current shirt. This current model is much lighter, but will fill the bill nicely and (I expect) wear like iron - a trademark of Patagonia clothing. The fit is spot on in my opinion. The design is simple, yet contains a few nice "pins and whistles" that are purposeful without generating clutter in an otherwise nicely spartan appearance. I Love the straps for rolling up the sleeves and the zippered pocket is very handy and nicely hidden. The extra flap in the collar provided to give additional sun protection if needed was a very nice surprise. However (I hope the design folks read this), I believe a simple centered snap closure to keep it folded in place would be a better option than keeping the left and right collar points snapped close. I don't like how the collar tends to rub my chin when these current snaps are fastened. And they need to be snapped so that the collar extension stays folded when slipping the shirt on and off. A single snap dead-center in the back of the collar would work better and not get in the way at all. I intend to add one. That is really my ONLY negative comment on an otherwise home run once again by the Patagonia folks. Nice job!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light and Large I'm a small guy and even the XS was large! Not surprised as this is primarily a fishing shirt. But be warned that it runs a little big. Aside from that, the ventilation system and the fabric design is perfect for activities in the sun. When there's a breeze, you'll be glad you're wearing this shirt!
