Read More Close
The Storm Racer Jacket embraces mountain running and biking essentials by exuding elegance in simplicity. It’s the lightest waterproof/breathable jacket we’ve ever made: a UTMB-inspired and approved 3-layer, featherlight, pared-down 100% nylon ripstop shell, with a supple feel and a tricot backer that remains comfortable next to skin at mile 100. The jacket features minimal-adjust half-elastic cuffs (low bulk, high comfort), a close-fitting single-pull hood that rolls away and a self-stuffing chest pocket (with carabiner clip-in loop). With reflective logos at left chest and back of neck. Bells, whistles and excess fluff not included.
Features
  • Featherweight H2No® Performance Standard 100% nylon ripstop keeps you dry, while a tricot backer wears soft and comfortable next to your skin
  • Zippered chest pocket converts to stuffsack with a reinforced carabiner clip-in loop
  • Hood adjusts in one pull for ease of use and good peripheral vision
  • Durable half-elastic cuffs lay flat against top of wrists for low bulk and superior comfort; elastic at back hem allows jacket to lie flat against body while sealing out weather
  • Reflective logo on left chest and center back at neck
  • Perfect for use over baselayers and light midlayers
  • 170 g (6 oz)

Weatherproof

3-layer H2No® Performance Standard fabrics are completely waterproof, windproof and breathable by virtue of an advanced combination of elements: a water-repellent shell fabric and a waterproof/breathable membrane bonded with an ultralight knit backer. The entire fabric package is highly packable and designed for prolonged use in extreme weather.

3-layer H2No™ Performance Standard shell fabrics are coated with DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish that repels light rain and snow. In conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

All products bearing the H2No® mark have been vigorously tested for durability in our 24 Killer Wash.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Men's Storm Racer Jacket is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light weight I got this a few months back and took it on a backpacking trip. It worked great in the light to medium rain I experienced on the trip. However because it is so light weight it is prone to rips. I got a small rip on the arm. I took it to Patagonia and they put some patches on it. I’m looking forward to testing it out again when I get a chance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Light Weight Rain Jacket For Bike Rides. I bought this jacket about a month ago for bike riding on a three week vacation. It looks great and keeps me dry during rainy days and protects me from the sun as well. On days when the temperature drops into the low sixties/high fifties a base layer plus this jacket keep me reasonably warm. It is attractive and versatile (wore it to a restaurant) and takes almost no space to pack. Love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big performance for a big price The price of this piece left me with big expectations, and I'm happy to say it's everything I hoped it would be. How this jacket can be waterproof and so breathable is beyond me. The fit is loose enough for a layer or two, and unlike most running jackets (my trusty Houdini included) this can also be worn against bare skin without feeling like you're wrapped in cellophane. Well done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from my new running shell I have had my eye on this jacket since it's recent release. I compared a few other companies. This jacket def has a higher price point compared to the other brands, however the fit and lines are super clean. I purchased for trail running but my wife said it'd work for casual nights out as well. I finally had a chance to take it out in some bad weather on trail last night. 45*F, super windy and light rain PROS - blocked all wind kept me dry hood fastens down nice and tight with great peripherals light and slim fit CONS - high price when compared to other brands in same category heavier than Houdini(con), but added waterproof/breathability(pro) when hood is not worn the bill was rubbing the back of my head, more annoying than anything else I am 5'11" and 180lbs, large muscular build, very broad shoulders. I wore a Large same as most other Patagonia items. Item is slim fit, not boxy like the down sweaters or torrentshells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BINGO! This is the jacket I've been after all my life. Before now, that jacket, the one I wouldn't leave home without, was my trusty old Houdini. Now it's my Storm Racer, which nails EVERYTHING I need in a grab-&-go jacket. PERFECT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great, fits even better! I bought this jacket a few days ago in store, and it's seriously the sleekest, best looking jacket I own. It's light, soft to the touch, and wears beautifully. Absolutely an awesome jacket, and worth the slightly higher cost. Definitely great for daily use, as well as running. I also plan on wearing it in the spring and summer while camping, hiking, and fishing. It's thin, so not meant for cold weather- but it's perfect for night wear, indoors, or if you're doing something intense like running outdoors.
