Rated 5 out of 5 by from You only get old when you stop playing. This story is a great example of how people are capable of so much more than they think they are. It's also my go-to retirement present for the adventurous mentors of my life. You're never too old to set out towards your dreams, even the adventurous ones! Unlike some adventure journals, this book is relatively quick-paced and not too redundant. Her personalized artwork and recipes break up the days for a little glimpse of the highlights of the trek. Very enjoyable read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Adventure that will inspire my adventures This is a great book and inspiring. As my kids go off to college, I am gearing up for some lightweight backpacking and some water adventures. Also want to get back to Alaska. Audrey's fun recounting of her daily adventures, advice, packing, meals all inspire and educate me. I follow along on the app ihikegps, which lets me download the topo charts as Audrey turns this way and that, I see everything she mentions that is on her maps (narrow passages, beaches, coves, cabins that have rotted away but are on topo charts, etc.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent This book is thought provoking, inspirational, and full of wry humor. They don't make 'em like Audrey very often, and she should be treasured. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inspiring read I loved this little book. The writing (I suspect like Audrey herself) is very straightforward, so the fact that she's doing a rather remarkable journey sometimes is almost forgotten as the story unfolds. Imagine spending day after day battling tides and currents and headwinds in a little inflatable raft, while the rain pours down on you. And yet Audrey delights in the wildflowers and calls of the eagles. I was inspired.
