Note

We stand behind everything we make, including our wetsuits. But wetsuits require care if they are going to perform and wear the way they were intended. Patagonia is not responsible for wetsuits that are abused or show normal wear and tear over time. Scratches and fading are inevitable, as are tears from the occasional close call with a fin. Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Biorubber

When we started making wetsuits, we quickly identified neoprene as a material that needed improvements to lessen its environment impact. So we met with the folks from Yulex who wanted to leverage the unique properties of the guayule plant, a hearty desert shrub native to the southwestern United States. Thus began a collaborative long-term project to develop a wetsuit material from guayule rubber.

Compared to traditional neoprene made from petroleum (or limestone), guayule rubber is a renewable resource that provides improved elasticity and softness and can be replaced faster than the product wears out. The agriculture is low-impact and the extraction and processing uses little energy and few chemicals.

Overall, from the crops to the rubber manufacturing, Yulex® guayule rubber has a lower environmental impact than the polychloroprene that it replaces.

R4® Yulex® Round Toe Booties is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boot if it fits. I bought these boots to surf the winters in New York and New Jersey. I wear a 9.5 in vans as a reference and chose to go with a 9 in these boots. I could fit an 8 but they became quite tight made my toes curl a little. When they fit, the boots are very comfy, and form fitting. My extremities have a habit of getting cold and i can surf these in 50 deg waters for 2.5 hours maybe a little more before they start getting uncomfortably cold. The soles are nicely rubberized yet still flexible, so walking the streets and rocks arent an issue and after wearing them for 10+ sessions they're still going strong. One star off for the following. - I wish they had a gasket at the ankle like XCEL. - the velcro strap is a little long and when cinched up extends past the velcro patch - Could be a little warmer Like everything else related to wetsuits... try it on before commiting. You wouldnt just buy a suit from one company and expect another copany to fit the same.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sizing WAY off These booties look awesome and I'm sure would work well if I could get my feet into them. Ordered a size 9 as my current booties (size 8 from another company) were slightly too small. Unfortunately, these size 9 booties are SMALLER than my current size 8. Can't really rate the booties for perfomance but I would recommend sizing up 2 sizes or more. I am giving this a fair rating as Patagonia should have this issue listed on the size chart.
