Small streams guarded by heavy cover offer undisturbed pools and wild fish, but tight casting space makes them a bounty most anglers will never claim. Those who dream of nothing but slinking off in pursuit of that bright-finned treasure will appreciate the faster action and compactness of this 8' 6" tenkara rod. Scaled down in size but not in performance, it’s well suited as an all-around rod for smaller anglers, or anyone who wants to earn their PhD in fishing challenging conditions. The rod telescopes from an easily packed 20" to full length in seconds; a simple line keeper on the butt section means you’re set up and fishing in matter of minutes. The rod sock holds a spare tip and second section (included), protects the rod in its compact state and has a built-in line holder that stores the line in a wide loop when not in use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Honestreview4u from Not great but not terrible Having used it enough now I feel like I can give it an honest review. I bought this with the want to get into tenkara and didn't know muc about it. I fly fish daily and I wanted something that I could just throw in a bag and take it everywhere. I bought this rod with the line recommended by Patagonia. My first time out was a pretty bad experience. The info given by Patagonia isn't the greatest as far as setup. The lengths of line recommended were way to long in my opinion. I felt casting performance and accuracy are something this rod lacks. I am no expert but this thing takes a lot of effort to get where you want it to go. The build quality is not what I expected. At first it seems well built but after about 6 small stream trout I can't get the rod sections to stay extended unless I set them so tight that it is near impossible to close. Today I thought I was going to break the rod trying to pack it up. The cork is pretty low grade, and the line holder is really just ends up getting in the way. The lack of hard case for the price is ridiculous and kind of defeats the purpose to me of being able to take it everywhere. I am afraid it will break in the cheap felt rod bag. Now does it work? Yes, I have had some nice 4-12" trout from some small streams in the Catskills. I have also had the chance to handle some competitors tenkara rods. If I could I would return this product hands down and go with just about any other tenkara rod. This is very overpriced and you can get better for less.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Truttaguy from Well made product This is a great way to get into Tenkara. Well thought out, with line holder incorporated into the design of the rod itself. Rod holder is also very nice. Only regret- I wish it came with a Rod Case.
