This enigmatic animal is more complex than the myths that surround it. With a shrinking wilderness and global warming, the future of the wolverine is uncertain. This Patagonia published paperback edition of The Wolverine Way reveals the fascinating natural history of the wolverine, and the habitat threats that face them, engagingly told by Douglas Chadwick, volunteer with the Glacier Wolverine Project. The project, a five-year study of the wolverines in Montana's Glacier National Park – reveals key missing information about the wolverine's habitat, social structure and reproduction habits. Wolverines, according to Chadwick, are the land equivalent of polar bears in regards to the impacts of global warming. The plight of wolverines adds to the call for wildlife corridors that connect existing habitat that is proposed by the Freedom to Roam coalition.

The Wolverine Way ( Softcover) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic book Over the last year or so I have checked in on the patagonia site to review feedback and to ponder the purchase of this book. Well just after Christmas 2014 I was able to get a copy! With my back out it was time to start reading about wolverines, what I learned gave me a deeper understand of this solitary creature that lives in gods high country. We as a country have much to learn on how our footprint is stomping out the last havens of this solitary rip saw. My youngest son will soon be completing his field study requirements for college, it's my intention to purchase a copy of this book to stimulate thought and perhaps follow in the snowshoe tracks of previous field biologist mentioned in this wonderful book. Thanks Patagonia

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprising I bought this book out of curiosity and to patronize Patagonia books. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful writing and learned a lot more about wolverines than I expected. I'm a huge fan of river otters & after reading this book wolverines almost became my favorite mustelid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Book about a little known animal Like most people, all I knew about Wolverines was folklore. There's tons of books about Grizzlies & other animals, of course they are fascinating too, but this is one of the few about Wolverines that gives good, researched information. Turns out, the truth is more fascinating than folklore. Don't expect a lot of gory "bear (wolverine) attack" stories, but do expect good, firsthand, researched information. The book reads a little slow, but I found the information to be new and fascinating.
