Fair Trade Certified™

We pay a premium for every Fair Trade Certified item that carries our label. That extra money goes directly to the workers at the factory, and they decide how to spend it. The program also promotes worker health and safety and social and environmental compliance, and encourages dialog between workers and management. Fair Trade is one of the first tools we’re using at Patagonia to raise workers’ wages, improve their standard of living and move them closer to earning a living wage.

Organic Cotton

In 1996, with an increased awareness of the dangers of pesticide use and synthetic fertilizers in growing conventional cotton, we began the exclusive use of organically grown cotton in all of our cotton products.

The quality of organic cotton is equal to or better than conventionally grown cotton, yet organically grown methods support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, improve the quality of soil and often use less water. Growing organically takes more time, requires more knowledge and skill, and, for now, costs more. But it’s worth it.

To ensure we are buying cotton that is organic as defined by the USDA’s National Organic Program, we require numerous certificates issued by an accredited third-party certification body for every step of the supply chain, from farm to factories.

Women's Ahnya Crew is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from large? I usually order L from Pata since I am a 10/12 in most clothing. Most of the time, is is comfortably roomy and still flattering. I ordered a M in this, reading reviews that it is big. The M looks like the right size, sleeves perfect length (5'8"), but the elastic bands at the waist and neck feel too small. I love the cozy fabric but found I was always pulling on the neckline and felt the waist riding up. I may try a L but I think it will look entirely too baggy. Maybe for women who don't mind very oversized clothing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Neck is looser than shown on model I have mixed feelings about this piece. I like the shorter length, fabric, and raglan sleeves a lot. But I agree with the other reviewer who said that the sleeve holes are cut big/low. The fit in the shoulders works fine for me, but this item is probably not a good choice for people with shorter arms or narrow shoulders. The real issue with this item is with the neck. It's a lot bigger than what's shown on the model. On me, it falls below my collarbone. As a result, any sleeved shirt worn under it looks weird, even v-necks (you can see the upper part of the sides of the v-neck). Only spaghetti strap shirts will work under this item, or it could be worn alone over a sports bra. The wide neck severely limits the versatility of the item, since I can't just throw it on over anything I'm wearing. In my mind, that's the main point of a sweatshirt, so this really bothers me. Patagonia needs to step up their women's clothing; I like the men's stuff a lot, but the women's items are plagued by either poor fit or poor color choices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New favorite sweater I love the way this sweatshirt fits. It isn't too boxy, and it fits well. I am approximately 130 lbs, and I'm petite up top, and in general, but muscular. I like the way the arms fit, perfect length, and size. I like that it isn't form fit, and I'm wishing it wasn't in the dirty laundry bin right now. I really wish there were more colors! Preferably some natural tones, and maybe some pattern options. I'm athletic, and I've been looking for more of these versatile clothing items. Dress it down or dress it up. Love it! I want more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Thank you Patagonia for starting to make more regular fit items! This is the perfect sweatshirt. Thin enough to hang nicely & not look bulky, but not so thin that it doesn't provide any warmth. I have kind of wide/athletic shoulders so I love the raglan sleeves for fit. The width and length are great. I am 5'9" and it hits on the top of my jean pockets or just a little above. So you can move around without it riding up to high. I bought the 2 tone blue and french red. Thinking of ordering the grey just because I like the fit so much.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too bad, so sad I was excited about this sweatshirt, but it was cut too wide around the chest area for me, and in my opinion, the arm hole is too wide as well. The overall effect was that it made the top half of my torso and arms look really bulky, which isn't a look I go for. It may work on a different body type (I'm a typical XS), but keep in mind that this sweatshirt is cut to just hit your hip. On the positive side, I liked the fabric. It was lightweight, with a soft minimal layer of fleece on the inside. The arm length was good (I have average length arms for a person my height) and the neck opening was comfortable and close enough to my neck that a t-shirt would not peep through. Unfortunately, it's going back.
