bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Fair Trade Certified™

We pay a premium for every Fair Trade Certified item that carries our label. That extra money goes directly to the workers at the factory, and they decide how to spend it. The program also promotes worker health and safety and social and environmental compliance, and encourages dialog between workers and management. Fair Trade is one of the first tools we’re using at Patagonia to raise workers’ wages, improve their standard of living and move them closer to earning a living wage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for river rafting I bought this top to wear on a two week river rafting trip through the Grand Canyon in September. I ended up wearing it on all the warmer days over a Patagonia camisole top (which they don't make anymore - too bad).Great sun protection, cooling, but also added some warmth when soaked with the 50 degree water, and dried quickly. Slightly loose fit which worked well for my needs. 5'7"/140 pounds/medium. Another trip participant had the same shirt and felt the same way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super comfortable I got this because I wanted something airy for hiking in mild-cool weather and so far it's been great. The material is very thin (almost see-through) and soft. In ~55(F) degree weather with a tank underneath and a raincoat, i was comfortable. In ~70(F) degree weather, with a tank under, i was comfortable. What I love the most is that it feels soft and airy. My sister said the seams were too rough on her skin and she wore it inside out and loved it. I didn't even notice the seams but maybe that's something people with sensitive skin should think about. I usually wear an XL and the XL was flowy but not baggy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best fit for boxy shaped or petite I have the short sleeves and XS fits great (5'8" 32C size 4/6). The long sleeves in XS has the most ridiculously short sleeves (tag says it's Asian sizing, but this was not in the description before I ordered). The S is loose in the body but sleeves are right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fabric, sun protection and colors I love the light weight capilene base layer. I do wish the arms were 2-3 inches longer however. Otherwise, it is perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the new fabric but arms are very short I always wore a size small in the prior version Capilene (1,2 and 3). While I love the soft fabric and light weight of this new version, it doesn't fit nearly as well. It runs bigger, so I got the XS. The body fits me just like the size S in the prior versions. However, the sleeve length is really skimpy - and I am petite, only 5' tall. The sleeves reach just to my wrist bone. I admit this feels weird partially because I am used to sleeves always being too long on me. The sleeves of my houdini size S are so long they cover down to the knuckles of my three longest fingers! But with this capilene shirt, the sleeves are just barely long enough when my arms are hanging and when I move my arms the sleeves expose my entire wrists. This is okay for me I guess, but for taller people the fit of this shirt may be a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Iceland and everywhere else I got this shirt for a spring trip to Iceland where i would be doing some backcountry skiing. i'm 5'4, 120lbs and the XS fit perfectly. I loved this shirt, i wore it for every excursion. I sweated on the skin up and when i got to the top, the shirt dried quickly. Allowed freedom of movement, never thought about it when i was moving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great layer for all temperatures I bought this to wear as a lightweight, sun-protective layer for summer fieldwork in the Mediterranean. The fit is great--I usually wear a 12 on top, and sized up to an XL because I wanted something that was slightly relaxed but flattering--this fits the bill perfectly. Major compliments to the designers for the thumb loops and truly long sleeves--thank you! I've got long arms and am constantly lamenting a lack of sleeve length. Fabric and construction quality seem very high, and the materials is soft and very comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for backpacking NZ I wore this for 4 different backpacking trips in New Zealand. From Alpine terrain to beach hikes this shirt was perfect. It layered comfortably with my other jackets. The long sleeves shielded my pale skin from the harsh sun. The one day I decided to wear a short sleeve capilene I got a gnarly farmers tan sunburn. Also the long sleeves helped protect me from bug bites. The new capilene is cut a bit looser than previous years, and I prefer it. It was a tad looser, not so snug like spandex but also not baggy. It provided a lot more breathability, and kept me from getting too hot/sweaty. I'm 5'7" 145lbs
