You’ve tried positive reinforcement, time-outs and tough love, but still your weather is very, very bad. We suggest the Downtown Parka. To repel tantrum-like tempests, the long coat’s satiny polyester shell has a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Recalcitrant low temps? The Traceable Down (600-fill-power duck down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) can deal with them. When back-talking snow flies, unzip the shawl collar and an insulated hood is at the ready. The 2-way full-length zipper with wind flap sets limits on disobedient wind gusts, and the zippered on-seam handwarmer pockets and interior zippered chest pocket store weather-proofing essentials, such as a hip flask. Straight hem. Below-the-knee length and elegant contoured quilting make you feel in charge even when you’re not.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? Rated 5 out of 5 by from So warm! Love this jacket! But I did size up to have some room. I wear Small in Patagonia jackets but this one was super fitted.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Downtown parker It's a great stylish coat but the zipper gets caught in the fabric often. I returned the first coat as I thought it just happened to that particular coat. However, it continues to happen with the second coat. The coat fits great But you need to zipper slowly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty! I bought this coat for cold Montana winters and it's certainly doing the job! In fact, I loved this coat so much, that I bought another as a gift for someone else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very warm, comfortable coat, some design flaws I have worn this coat in very low temps and been warm. It's a pretty slim fit. The zippers on the pockets are pretty flimsy, so I mostly leave them open, otherwise would really need to go up a size. The hood is not a hood...I'm honestly not sure what the purpose of this flap of fabric is - it makes wearing a scarf feel stuffy, but doesn't seem to give much additional warmth. I bought this in an after-season sale, so I gave this 4 stars for warmth, but if I paid full price, I would definitely bring it down to 3.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for extreme cold I love Patagonia and really wanted to keep this coat but sadly had to return. It just didn't keep me warm in Chicago winter. I get very cold easily so I'm in need of a coat with a shell covering to block the wind. It doesn't matter how many down feathers you have, the wind will blow right through it. I did however like the fit, style. It is more fitting so there isn't much room for layering. I'm 5'10" 145 and purchased a medium and it fit perfectly. The sleeves were long enough which is usually an issue on coats. I need to size up for arm length but then the coats look too bug and sloppy on me. This wasn't the case. If you don't get too cold easily, I would still recommend for milder winter weather, it is a pretty coat, comfortable and good quality. I'm still on the hunt for a coat that's willkrtp me warm that won't break the bank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy and warm! This parka is great! Very warm without being overly stuffy and the hood is huge and protects your head/face from snow and wind. The pockets are fairly deep which I really like but they're also discrete so they don't add any bulk. I also really like he cinching around the wrists so cold air doesn't get in between where your gloves and sleeves meet. I got the small and it goes to the bottom of my knee- I'm 5' 4', and 120ish lbs. I normally wear an xs in Patagonia but I had to size up because I wear a lot of bulky/oversized sweaters in the winter and those would definitely not fit under an xs coat. I love my purchase! It's kept me very warm in windy Chicago and zero degree Wisconsin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmest Coat Around! What a great product! The hood zips inside itself if you don't want it out. It is super long (I'm 6') and it hits just above my knees. Super warm for the cold winter, windy days! Highly recommended!
