Our Nano Puff® Hoody handily manages all the chilly belays, melt-freeze ice couloirs and nighttime rope-pulling epics that even the most dedicated climbers can throw at it. It excels as a sleek micro-belay parka and doubles as an insulated jacket on quick alpine dashes. A simple, elasticized hood opening adds thermostat-like warmth, and the low-bulk, hydrophobic, highly compressible 60-g PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco—with 55% postconsumer recycled content—traps heat with remarkable efficiency, even when wet. The wind-blocking, moisture-shedding 100% recycled polyester ripstop shell with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish glides effortlessly in your layering system, and a soft, wicking interior storm flap and zipper garage add chin comfort (when all hell’s breaking loose, the little things help). The hoody stuffs into an internal, zippered chest pocket that has a carabiner clip-in loop. It also has two zippered handwarmer pockets, elasticized cuffs and a dual-adjust drawcord hem to seal out wind and seal in warmth.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Insulation

We use PrimaLoft® insulation inside insulated garments for its warmth, compressibility, and soft comfort. While the human body uses energy to stay warm, PrimaLoft insulation uses a patented microfiber structure to help the body retain warmth and conserve energy.

The proprietary ultra-fine fibers of PrimaLoft insulation form a tight collection of air pockets that trap heat from your body and keep the cold out, providing an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. When insulation gets wet, it loses these air pockets and consequently, its insulating properties. PrimaLoft ultra-fine fibers were developed to be water resistant so your insulation stays drier and maintains its insulating properties even when wet.

Women's Nano Puff® Hoody is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from No insulating properties, useless! I bought this for a trip to Morocco and am extremely disappointed after the first day of wear. The fit and style are nice, it packs well, but it is infinitely less warm than a down jacket I have of the same size/thickness. In fact, I’m not sure the nano puff ‘insulation’ (I use the term loosely) is doing anything at all - it doesn’t seem to be any warmer than if they had just stitched two pieces of nylon together!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repaired to perfection I just wanted to rave about Patagonia's repair policy. I ripped up the front of my Nano Puff jacket in a bike accident a few weeks ago and brought it into my local (Banff) Patagonia for repair. I picked it up today expecting that it would be wearable but that the sewed-up gash would be visible and a little unsightly. But the repair company (Gear ReStore in Calgary) colour-matched the panels and thread exactly, and it took me minutes of hard staring to figure out which areas they'd repaired and replaced. Just incredible. I am thoroughly impressed! And this at a cost of zero dollars to me. Way to go, Patagonia!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from super light yet warm This jacket is the perfect partner for my daily bike ride. It keeps me warm even when windy and rain and I love that the hoody goes under my helmet. I usually wear size XS but I bought the jacket in size S what allows me to wear a thick hoody underneath and still feel comfortable. I don't yet have the Patagonia Better Sweater but I will buy one soon so that I can wear them combined in winter too! I recommend the Nano Puff Hoody to all those that search a warm, light, sporty yet casual jacket for fall (and winter).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy & cozy! I love how lite weight yet warm and cozy the Nano Puff is. I especially like the silver color. It's casual yet sharp. I'm 5'4 with a small frame and weigh 110lbs. The XS fits perfectly, allowing me to wear a light weight long sleeve shirt underneath the jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for SF summer I bought this a month ago and have been wearing it until the recent heat waves in SF. It's prefect warmth for the chilly summer night and the fit was comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for casual and technical wear I originally wanted to buy the nano puff jacket in nouveau green, but my boyfriend convinced me the hood was worth the less exciting colour range. I wasn't sold on the hood until I hiked Dog Mountain in the Columbia Gorge and met a brisk wind on the exposed face of the hike that was determined to chill me to the bone. All my friends were incredibly jealous when I was able to whip out my nano puff, pull the hood up, and feel instantly warm. Despite being low-profile, the nano puff breaks the wind like a sheet of plastic. The cut isn't the most feminine - it's actually kind of boxy, which I was also hesitant about. I've grown to like it because it allows for a great range of motion, and the cut isn't a terrible thing to compromise when the jacket has so many other qualities.
