Quandary Pants were made for sticky situations, like choosing which pants to wear for the next 15 days or for a hot and humid Tepui approach. These technical pants are gusseted and have articulated knees for mobility—when you need to jump into the drink, the legs roll up and secure. Made from lightweight and stretchy 94% nylon/6% spandex with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, the pants provide 50+ UPF sun protection. Details include a metal-button closure, hidden drawcord, reverse-coil zippered fly, belt loops and drop-in pockets on the front; there’s one zippered back pocket and one drop-in. The side cargo pocket zips and secures valuables. Inseam (size 8) is 30".

Women's Quandary Pants - Short is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect hiking pants! I just got back from five days of hiking in Marin County, CA, and these pants were my favorites -- light and super comfortable, with just enough stretch to move with me as I climbed, but they never lost their shape. And they have all the pockets I needed, all in just the right places, with zippers. I also appreciate that they come in the short length -- I'm long-waisted with short-ish legs, and I always have to hem my pants, but the length was perfect. I also love that they roll up and can be secured with tabs just below the knee. Great features all around, with Patagonia's usual high quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pants These pants were perfect for 2 days of hiking in Rocky Mt Nat'l Park. Fit is comfortable, fabric is lightweight, sturdy, and not hot, and pockets are convenient. I was so happy to find these pants in the short length. The gray is a great color too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love, but wish Patagonia sold low-rise pants I bought this pair at a store and love them. They're comfortable, move easily, feel light and breathable, and look great. I have worn them hiking, climbing, backpacking, fishing, and even to work. The one thing I would request, from Patagonia or any other brand, is LOW-RISE pants. No one seems to sell them, but when I bought these I mentioned this to the store manager, and he encouraged me to write a review and mention this request. Hope Patagonia can help!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Decision in life These pants are perfect. I'm an avid hiker and a coyote and fox handler, these pants can handle both! Could not give a better review! They do run a little large around the waist but have a drawstring to keep them up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these pants Bought these at the beginning of the summer and I have been wearing them constantly. Great for riding bikes (pant leg rolls up and secures nicely), wading in the ocean, gardening, hiking - basically any casual activity. The pockets are really great, as one is even big enough to hold my rather large phone securely and the zippers keep everything from wiggling out. These pants dry extremely fast! I love the performance of the stretchy fabric but the combination of the casual fabric and zippered pockets means they aren't quite dressy enough to wear for work. I would really like to see these in a slim leg, too, which would make them even more versatile. I am 5'2" and have an athletic build (no waist, no fanny) and the short fit me like they were tailored for me; I have rather long legs for a petite woman. I will be buying at least one more pair of these!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lightweight pants. I love the lightweight material. The zippered pocket on the leg would be nice a bit taller. Very comfortable. The inner drawstring gives it a curvy fit if needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for travel. Cargo pocket needs to be deeper Purchased to wear for travel. Lightweight, a bit stretchy. Relax a bit when worn so don't start out with them too loose. Easy to fly in, and sleep in, due to the cut and fabric. Side 'cargo' pocket that zips closed on right leg will securely hold passport, but not my Samsung 7 phone, so loss of 1 star. That's a problem because I like to use that pocket for my phone when I fly domestic, passport when I fly international. I do like that they look good enough to wear in cities, but don't wrinkle and dry quickly for travel. Easy to wash or spot wash. Not too noisy (swish) when walking. Just deepen that cargo pocket and they'll be perfect. Roll up to capris is a very nice bonus. I'm 5' 4" 135 pounds, kinda straight thru waist hips thighs (not curvy) and bought a size 6 short.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Runs large I have not worn Patagonia much and did not have an opportunity to try on these pants before purchase; however, I made every effort to communicate with Patagonia to determine what would be the best size. I was told to measure myself, which I did, and use the measurements to determine size. After providing my measurements, Patagonia indicated between an 8 and 10 for my size. Fortunately, prior to having this conversation, I ordered a size 4. In fact, a size 2 would be best but a 4 I can live with for now. The measurements do not correspond with the sizes. Order multiple sizes to determine which pant you need. Great pants, sizing is misleading.
