Fair Trade Certified™

We pay a premium for every Fair Trade Certified item that carries our label. That extra money goes directly to the workers at the factory, and they decide how to spend it. The program also promotes worker health and safety and social and environmental compliance, and encourages dialog between workers and management. Fair Trade is one of the first tools we’re using at Patagonia to raise workers’ wages, improve their standard of living and move them closer to earning a living wage.

Organic Cotton

In 1996, with an increased awareness of the dangers of pesticide use and synthetic fertilizers in growing conventional cotton, we began the exclusive use of organically grown cotton in all of our cotton products.

The quality of organic cotton is equal to or better than conventionally grown cotton, yet organically grown methods support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, improve the quality of soil and often use less water. Growing organically takes more time, requires more knowledge and skill, and, for now, costs more. But it’s worth it.

To ensure we are buying cotton that is organic as defined by the USDA’s National Organic Program, we require numerous certificates issued by an accredited third-party certification body for every step of the supply chain, from farm to factories.

Women's Serenity Pants - Long is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Patagonia, will you make me some FRC work pants? I've been wearing these for 4+ years for work. The tall waist band fits underneath my tool belt and copper back brace. They're fitted enough to fit underneath my knee pads without being too tight. Recently, while working on the Sakakawea Pipeline in North Dakota, the other party chiefs were making comments that I was wearing "yoga pants" to work. I tried to explain they're climbing pants, durable and quick drying. Eventually my supervisor told me I had to wear FRC, which is never made for women and super uncomfortable. Patagonia: ever considered making field work clothes for women? FRC fabrics with high vis striping? (I would've been able to continue to wear these if they were labeled FRC for safety). I have a ton of ideas for women's work clothes if you were open to suggestions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from quality has changed dramatically I have been wearing Serenity pants for 16 years and these are not serenity pants. I'm so disappointed, as my last pair got snagged while hiking recently and I needed another. I wish I'd read the reviews first (and thought about why they were closing them out first...) These are heavier knit and not as finely woven. They also picked up all sorts of lint. The other ones were silky smooth, a rich color, and the only yoga pants I could wear regularly out socially and even to work with the right top. Worst thing to me is that the seams are on the outside. Even with that style change I was willing to try them. But if I'm going to get pants just for yoga or hiking, I can do better with cheaper pants. I'm returning these and so, so sad!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Go-Anywhere Pants I agree with a previous reviewer who said the quality has changed. The fabric does seem a bit heavier and less smooth, but the quality it still good and it's a comfortable pant for doing just about anything. My previous two pairs travelled 10,000 kilometers around China, and then some, and they are still going strong, if a bit faded. No matter. I still love them. I recently ordered two new pairs (black and navy) but have to return them because they are too short. I ordered size M 32", my usual pant length for most things I wear with flat shoes. I'm 5'7 " around 138 lbs, and have fairly standard proportions so it's pretty annoying to have to send them back at my own expense -- and then hope that I won't have to go to additional expense of having the longer 34" size shortened. Oh, and now I learn that can only get the 34" in black because Patagonia is out of the navy. Trying to replace a couple of pairs of pants is looking to be more trouble (and expense) than it's worth.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Serenity pants have changed I have been wearing these pants for years- many pairs. I like that they come in 3 different lengths, and also the fabric has been very finely knit, smooth, very high quality cotton and spandex (which does not lose it's elasticity quickly, like so many cheaper pants). Every pair, no matter when or where I got them, would fit the same. I just ordered 3 more pair over the holidays. The fabric has been changed. Now, instead of a fine and very smooth finish, the pants have a rather rough nap, like a heavy flannel, perhaps? Also, they changed the fit- I have somewhat slim legs, and not much waist. The old fit would hang straight down at the sides of the legs. The new fit has some extra fabric added to the sides of the thighs at the top- so that on me, I have a bit of a "jodhpur" thing going. Not good for me. Also, one pair was 1 inch shorter than the others- quality control needs work. Bring back the old ones, please!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! Finally a great, versatile workout pant This is the perfect yoga, workout, pick-your-kids-up, coaching, running pant. I have looked for a long time for a pair of pants that are flattering yet do not ride up in all the wrong places. I am tall, and this 34" inseam is perfect. Weight and feel of the material is perfect. Waistband is perfect, not muffin top. Thank you Patagonia for finally coming thru with the perfect workout pant.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from disappointment in quality compared to the same pants I bought last year, these were much shorter. I bought two pair this year and one was 1.5 inches shorter than the other. this means a lot when you are tall. Both were shorter than the same pair I got last year. Both started pilling in the inner thigh after several wearings. The one from last year has not pilled at all after many, many wearings and washing. Disappointed in the quality. Expect more from Patagonia. Feel for the price I should get more consistency in the product as far as fit and length. They still are a nice yoga pant; however, I know they could be better-- like last year's version.
