Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Form over function for women's technical pants I don't understand what Patagonia (and many other outdoor clothing companies) are doing with their technical women's lines. If you have any sort of muscle on your legs, these pants are way too fitted. I tried an 8 and a 10 (I am a 6 in skinny jeans), and both were huge (4-5 inches too much fabric) in the waist and too tapered in the knee and thigh area. The crotch is also really weirdly long. Did they just use the men's design and make the legs more fitted? These are meant for climbing. Why would you taper the knee area so much for a "slim fit" look on technical climbing pants? I couldn't high step in these to save my life. My boyfriend and I wear the same size pants, so we ordered the equivalent size in the Men's Simul Alpine pant out of curiosity. The hips and waist fit the exact same in both the mens and womens on both of us (because apparently womens hips and mens hips are the same shape?) and the mens pants had significantly more space in the knee for actual movement. This is pretty disappointing for Patagonia. Please make functional clothing for women too. Also as a comparison, I have a pair of 2011 Womens Simple Guide Pants in Medium, which are shaped to fit a women's hips and have enough space in the knees and thighs for actual movement while climbing a mountain. Sure these look great and slick and whatnot, but I'd really like to be able to use these for more than walking the dog down the street.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Near Perfect Winter Layer I found the Simul Alpine pant on sale at a local store, so I picked them up to see whether I'd like them. I've been looking for a good soft-shell pant for winter since I wanted a pant that I could snowboard, snowshoe, and ice climb in. I took them out ice climbing in NH during some pretty wet conditions and was really please to find that they held up perfectly and were much more comfortable than my other goretex pants. This week I wore them snowboarding and snowshoeing in negative temps (-30F with windchill!) and they were AWESOME. I wear these as an outer layer, so underneath I can choose a fleece bottom if it's really cold or I'm not moving much or a lighter wool bottom when I'm going to be going at it. My only complaint is that the suspenders aren't really comfortable to wear with the pant since and the waist is just a little loose. Also, plan to wear gaiters with these if you have actual crampons on - the pant has little instep protection on its own. I'm 5'3'', 125lbs, and usually wear a size 26 in jeans. I got these in a size 4.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good alpine pants These are great pants for alpine days, whether hiking or climbing or both. However, they have a very wide top and are not suitable for smaller waists. The adjustable slider kind of works, but I had to tie one end of it to itself to get it to stay in one position. This created an irritating knot that pressed into my abdomen when carrying my pack or with my harness on. Otherwise, I love them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So fantastic I bought a second pair I love love love these pants. They are the perfect weight for PNW alpine climbs, and accompanied me on my summit of Mt. Rainier in July. The ONLY drawback on these pants is they don't have instep protection for crampons. I poked a small hole in mine with my crampons and will happily patch it and continue wearing them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for!! Wore these snowshoeing recently & they are just what I needed for a lightweight, stretchy snow pant! They pack small so I can take them on my summer hikes on 14ers in Colorado!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features I bought this product a month ago. I've worn them for Nordic Skiing this spring. Perfect weight for warmer weather. Love the color. Can't wait to wear them to hike.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from LOVE these pants, but they're way too long. Wish Patagonia would have more petite sizes available. These fit great everywhere else, but they are made for the average height person. Sadly, I have to return these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect Super comfortable, love the color, versatile, but I can't quite give these 5 stars. I took the star away because these are pretty slim fit and supposedly the adjustable button compensates, but there's no instructions so either I'm doing it wrong or it doesn't work. Also, because these are best for wearing over a base layer to keep warm, it would be nice if they were cut to give a bit in the knees since they're not terribly stretchy.
