Recycled Nylon

Although we’ve been using recycled polyester in our garments for 20 years, for some reason locked deep in polymer chemistry, nylon is more difficult to recycle than polyester. After years of research, development, and testing, we’re finally finding some recycled nylon fibers that are suitable for apparel.

Some of the recycled nylon we use comes from post-industrial waste fiber, yarn collected from a spinning factory, and waste from the weaving mills that can be processed into reusable nylon fiber.

We’re diligently searching for a success story with recycled nylon. The challenge lies ahead of us, and we’re committed to discovering the best methods to recycle nylon fiber, but it appears this evolution will take many years.

Weatherproof

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are completely waterproof, windproof, breathable and highly packable for backpacking, alpine climbing and backcountry skiing. They combine a water-repellent shell fabric with a waterproof/breathable membrane and a protective top coat barrier without needing a protective lining fabric. A raised print layer is applied to decreased layering friction and increase moisture management.

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are coated with DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish that repels light rain and snow. In conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

All products bearing the H2No mark have been vigorously tested for durability in our 24 Killer Wash.

Women's Torrentshell Jacket is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 130.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing rain jacket I received this rain jacket for my birthday back in march and I'm still as an love with it as when I first tried it on. I took this jacket on a trip to Niagara Falls, Canada and it kept me dry through harsh mist and a hard rain. The only negative comment that I have, is that the sleeves are a bit too long. Other than that, I absolutely love this jacket!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Fit But Not Waterproof While I have been absolutely thrilled with the style and fit of this jacket, I was extremely disappointed when I wore it on my commute to work and got quite wet. After walking in roughly 25 mins of light rain, water had soaked right through the jacket. Sadly, I will have to replace this jacket with something more waterproof as it will not keep me dry during my daily commute, and definitely not during outdoor adventures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need every color! I bought my first one of these jackets about 2 years ago to test out for running in Northern Japan. It can be snowy, windy, icy, rainy--you name it--up here. Present day, I own about 6 of these jackets. I absolutely love them. When it is really cold, I layer it with a tight thermal shirt and an extra hoody, and if it's not too cold I get away with just the tight light thermal underneath. You'd be very surprised how warm it keeps you due to it holding in (and keeping out) moisture. I own a couple larges to use more for when I need to layer up more, and some mediums that fit my body better when not layering as much. Bonus: these jackets look awesome so I wear around for errands and still get comments on it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wind and water proof I bought this jacket a few months ago in the fall and so far I really like it. It's thin which I know will be good on warm, rainy summer days. So far in the cooler weather it has been amazing with a warm sweater underneath. It fits a little big but that's good because you definitely want to have room for a thick layer underneath if it gets chilly where you live. I got the navy colour and I really enjoy it. The only problem I have with this jacket is that adjusting the tightness around the hood is a little confusing but overall it's a solid rain jacket. Can't wait to wear it this spring!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I originally purchased this jacket in a large as the site recommended but it was too big. I ordered a medium and it fits perfect and I love it! I recommend. I am 5’4 and 155 pounds and a 36D in chest. Hope this is helpful!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Miss a few features from the old version I owned a version of this jacket for 6-7 years, and received this new one when my old pal just couldn't be repaired anymore. While it certainly does the job of keeping me dry, two things bug me almost every time I wear it: 1) No interior pocket. I really, really miss this, especially when traveling and hiking; and 2) Lower quality zipper. I fight with this thing every time I try to zip up. It's easy to fix, but in my old version, it was much smoother. I still like the jacket (actually prefer it to the stretchy one, which I also tried) but man do I wish I could have kept my old one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect rain jacket This is my first Pata jacket. I’m 5’2, 97 or 99 lbs (weight varies depending on how much I eat. LOL), bought size xs, fits perfectly. I’m actually looking slimmer than I really am in this jacket, yet I can move freely, and able to add one think under layer plus another thin one and still look not bulky. The color black is deep and beautiful. Feels like I am glowing in it. Haven’t tested it in rains yet but I am already amazed how incredible this jacket is capable of blocking the wind. It keeps me warm in windy days with one LLBean fleece jacket underneath and temperatures around 60 (Side note that I am extremely sensitive to cold.) In warmer windy days with temperatures above 73, I don’t sweat in this jacket neither. I don’t understand how this is even possible?! But I am deeply impressed. I have to admit I’m not a hiker nor athletic type of person. I bought this jacket simply because its fame. But I am really really in love with it now. I ended up buying the down sweater hoody as well, hoping it can save me from being freezing in winter. I just hope I’ve chosen the right size (I bought size xs too but some reviews said it ran huge. Not sure. It’s still on the road flying to me. Will come to update once I try it on) Very excited!! Becoming a fan of Patagonia!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ran small, for me. Jacket is awesome, but frustrating that it was so tight in the bust area. I usually wear a small in Patagonia brand but this jacket gave me the ever so attractive pancake boob. Had to exchange but love my medium. Ordering online is always a gamble but the exchange was very easy and I am now just waiting on my refund for the jacket I sent back. They were honest at exchange that I would be waiting up to 6 weeks since they were on an exchange/return backlog.
