The Torrentshells do exactly what pared-down rainwear should: keep you dry through steady showers or thunderboomers—and they do it with breathability and zero excess. These H2No® Performance Standard rain pants are made from 2.5-layer nylon ripstop (100% recycled) with a waterproof/breathable barrier and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. They feature a simple pull-on style with an elastic drawcord waistband, articulated knees and water-resistant side zips that extend from cuff to thigh for easy pull-on over boots, while doubling as vents. With two zippered pockets (the pants stuff into the left pocket, with carabiner clip-in loop) and partially elasticized cuffs that adjust with a snap-tab closure.

Recycled Nylon

Although we’ve been using recycled polyester in our garments for 20 years, for some reason locked deep in polymer chemistry, nylon is more difficult to recycle than polyester. After years of research, development, and testing, we’re finally finding some recycled nylon fibers that are suitable for apparel.

Some of the recycled nylon we use comes from post-industrial waste fiber, yarn collected from a spinning factory, and waste from the weaving mills that can be processed into reusable nylon fiber.

We’re diligently searching for a success story with recycled nylon. The challenge lies ahead of us, and we’re committed to discovering the best methods to recycle nylon fiber, but it appears this evolution will take many years.

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are completely waterproof, windproof, breathable and highly packable for backpacking, alpine climbing and backcountry skiing. They combine a water-repellent shell fabric with a waterproof/breathable membrane and a protective top coat barrier without needing a protective lining fabric. A raised print layer is applied to decreased layering friction and increase moisture management.

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are coated with DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish that repels light rain and snow. In conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

All products bearing the H2No mark have been vigorously tested for durability in our 24 Killer Wash.

Women's Torrentshell Pants is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Try ordering the children's size if you are petite I needed heavy duty rain gear for an April Ireland golf trip and found these pants. I am super small (4'11, 100 lbs) and decided to order the children's version of these pants ( size L and XL) as women's XXS are typically too big. The children's L fit me perfectly. The XL was too big. I noticed that the children's version is without some features of the adult version (no side leg zip for example) but I am ok with that bc the length is perfect which rarely ever happens and these would be hard to hem given the elastic at the bottom. I can't comment on the weather claims but given my history with Patagonia I am sure they will live up to the claims. I will report back if they dont.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from last minute purchase worked out great Bought these online for a Teton Crest 8 day backpack in mid August. As one might expect, it rained more evenings than not, and they kept me dry, plus kept the wind at bay. They don't breathe as well as my M10 jacket, but were OK. They fit over my hiking pants without having to size up, and could be put on quickly without having to take my boots off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits well I'm 4'11/97lbs and the xxs worked well for me. I ended up buying both the blue and the black since it can be difficult for me to find outdoor clothing that fits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 weeks on icleand- perfect pants I bought these for a 2 week camping trip to iceland and they were perfect. I probably used them equally for wind protection and rain protection, and they delivered for both I stayed dry, they were breathable and they were comfy. Even though I'm usually a medium I had to get a large so they would for comfortable with room to move around over my pants.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Features I am 5'4" ~ 110lbs and exchanged the S for an XS. The exchange was swift and easy! Unfortunately the rain pants smell of perfume, which after many washings and hanging outside the smell is still there, though less.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality and style, but... These rain pants were well made and designed, but they run pretty big. I'm 5'5" and 135 lbs. and the medium was too big. Decided to wait until next spring to replace my old rain pants, but will probably look at Patagonia choices first again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits great! My husband bought me these pants and matching jacket for my birthday. I usually look dumpy in outdoor gear because I'm a small woman but these pieces fit me perfectly and look great Thanks Patagonia!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Use for biking and coaching I use these to commute to work in the rain, and they definitely keep everything dry. There is not vent so it can get a little warm when biking.
