Because we love ponchos for their simple design and basic concept of staying dry in wet weather, we’ve taken a reliable style and made it better by using 100% recycled fabric. The poncho essentials are made better with a 3-way adjustable-brim hood, side snaps and front marsupial mesh pockets. This poncho conveniently packs into the left-front pocket for a quick and compact stash at the music festival. The Snap-T® neck and pocket finish round out this sure to become a back-of-the-car staple for when you want to stay dry on a wet trail, wet bleacher or wet bike seat.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Weatherproof

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are completely waterproof, windproof, breathable and highly packable for backpacking, alpine climbing and backcountry skiing. They combine a water-repellent shell fabric with a waterproof/breathable membrane and a protective top coat barrier without needing a protective lining fabric. A raised print layer is applied to decreased layering friction and increase moisture management.

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are coated with DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish that repels light rain and snow. In conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

All products bearing the H2No mark have been vigorously tested for durability in our 24 Killer Wash.

Women's Torrentshell Poncho is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good rain poncho Just bought this so have not tested it in the rain yet. Thus this review is limited to fit and feel. Fit: I normally wear a small. When buying rain ponchos I usually get a large for better coverage. This poncho in the cute sale color was available only in XS. In reading the other reviews I thought he XS might fit and so ordered it. It does fit me fine with good arm coverage-covering all the way down to my wrists on my average length arms, and good hood volume for my very big (23") head. It has enough width to ensure good ventilation and free movement. It is not very long. On my 5'5" frame it comes down to barely mid thigh. The front and back length are the same so it is not designed for wearing a pack under it. You can wear a small day pack or a lumbar pack and still have decent coverage, but a large pack will lift the poncho up so much (as the other reviewer' photo shows) that rain pants would be necessary on a serious trek. Mere water repellent pants won't do. The advantage to the short length is that wind would affect it less. Feel: The cut is good. It feels comfortable on. The material feels fine. It does have a water proof membrane so it's a great improvement over the ordinary ponchos on the market. It does not cling and is fairly light weight. The side snaps appear sturdy and secure. the pockets are well placed. Suggestions: Brighter color choices for better visibility; longer coverage on the back for carrying a pack; longer coverage over all so long gaiters instead of rain pants would be sufficient. Alternatively, why not make lightweight extra long rain gaiters to pair with the ponchos? Make hiking shorts and pants with features to allow the long gaiters to be hooked or snapped onto them so the gaiters will stay upright.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great cover up It hasn't rained yet!!! I really bought it to take to Africa on assignment in July. The color is a bit wild, and it is a bit big but hey it was 50% off. I like the edge button feature that stops it flapping in the wind. I think it will work well for biking it in Africa.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over day pack in the Himalayas I bought this for the Snowman trek in the Himalayas in Bhutan. I read the reviews about sizing, and since I am 5'1", I figured the small would be fine even with a 24L day pack underneath. WRONG! Needed a medium, which arrived about 30 minutes before I had to leave for the airport. Yikes! This was the perfect item for 25 days of hiking in a ton of rain as well as sleet and snow. I usually use a sil nylon poncho for backpacking but didn't want something that would wet through. A poncho is the ticket because your pack straps stay dry. In the low temps on the hike, nothing air dried. The only way I could dry my wet clothes was by wearing them. A soaked pack would have been a misery. In the photo, I'm in turquoise, second from the back. As you can see, the poncho covers the pack but doesn't hang down too long. If I had been getting this poncho for wearing around town, the small would have been fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice poncho I bought this a month ago size medium. Usually wear medium to large but it was way too big. I had to return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple perfection Whilst hiking in torrential downpour conditions this keeps me, and my pack, nice and dry. Helmet friendly hood design. So good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Full! I bought this cape a few months ago and have only worn it once. I bought an XS since they were out of S and the reviews were that this ran very big. I bought this for walking the dog when raining, and it seems to work ok. I'm sure I will get a lot of wear in the future months, but have not done so at this time. Definitely go down a size when ordering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT! Works great in huge downpours even if windy - and, although it is kinds like a kite, i did not fly away :-) Stayed totally dry and extra warm with my jacket underneath.
