General Summary:
The repair department manager is a hands-on position and will be responsible for managing and coordinating all employees who perform customer repair tasks and supporting services within the repair department. These functions include wader repairs; garment repairs and trims material warehousing.

Essential Job Functions:
-Maintain a maximum 5 day in-department turn time for all customer repairs.
-Assess skill sets of each employee and coordinate repair types for each employee based on demonstrated ability.
-Adjust staff levels as necessary by utilizing seasonal, contract and/or temporary employees to cover peak periods and/or special requests.
-Contact customers directly as necessary to determine repair options when substitution of replacement materials, fabrics, or trim parts must be used.
-Determine repair costs versus replacement or credit costs for items requiring extensive time or effort to complete.
-Materials acquisition. Work with the production and contract management teams to acquire raw materials and trim components from our contract factories.
-Order as necessary all raw materials and trim items directly from established vendors where applicable.
-Utilizing the PLM system, develop a working knowledge of how to use the RM number specifications in this application to assist in determining RM requirements for each repair.
-Maintain daily unit volume statistics for units entering the repair department and completed units exiting the department. Also maintain productivity and performance data for each employee as necessary to support productivity expectations.

Other Job Functions:
-Ensure employees are provided the tools and training necessary to enhance their growth and development in the company.
-Mentor all employees to help ensure a successful, efficient and worker friendly environment.
-Develop procedures for allowing insertion of selected “Common Threads” products into the repair stream for future donation.
-Assist the Trims Supervisor to set up and maintain a more comprehensive stock locator system for trim materials.
-Assist the Repairs Supervisor to maintain individual and department performance standards.
-Manage Employee Performance process for all staff within Repair Department.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

-Proven supervisory skills
-Understanding of product construction techniques for determination of reparability of returned items. Products include luggage and soft packs, waders, and all Patagonia branded garments.
-Must be a fanatic about helping Patagonia stay on top of its customer’s needs.
-Comfortable calling customers and have an outgoing and easy manner on the phone.
-Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and enjoy providing information needed by colleagues.
-Comfortable with (or with learning) applications residing on the AS400, Word and Excel for Windows.
-Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail so no customer “falls through the cracks”.
-Ability to speak Spanish helpful.
-Ability to lift 50 pounds.
