General Summary:
The IBM iSeries (formerly called IBM AS/400) developer is responsible for the technical aspects and operation of two key iSeries applications: CommericalWare’s (CW) Mozart application and Island Pacific’s (IP) Retail application. S/he will develop, code, unit test and deploy enhancements and bug fixes to the CW & IP applications written in RPGLE using standardized IBM iSeries capabilities. S/he will have full technical operational authority and responsibility for those systems.

Essential Job Functions:
o Develop new and/or enhance existing modules and functions according to functional and technical requirements/specifications.
o Develop, code, unit test, deploy and train end users on enhancements and bug fixes to supported applications to meet business objectives.
o Write unit test scripts and test new and/or enhanced functionality.
o Implements new releases of vendors’ application and re-engineers custom code to new baseline.
o Implements vendors’ patches and fixes, as appropriate, to application to keep system current and up to date.
o Estimate required time and resources to complete assigned projects or tasks and plan accordingly so that projects are completed in an accurate and timely fashion.
o Coordinates code releases and build schedules with appropriate department and Development Manager, iSeries to satisfy departmental requirements.
o Write and conduct tests to verify the functionality, accuracy, and efficiency of developed or enhanced software code. Develop and initiate design changes or enhancements as necessary.
o Architect, design, test and implement interface programs between AX ERP system and CW and IP applications.
o Overall technical operational authority and responsibility for the CW and IP systems.
o Analyze and repair software defects and coordinate implementation of modified code with Director of Information Technology.
o Develop technical documentation, as appropriate, for enhancement and/or bug fixes to the CW & IP systems.
o Train end user’s on code enhancements and for final sign off on changes.
o Perform technical work requiring experience in the application of standard techniques and procedures in carrying out tasks (i.e. the SDLC programming methodology).

Other Job Functions:
o Use of SQL for adhoc database programming fixes/modifications as dictated by enhancement/modification objectives.
o Work to keep technical knowledge and competency up to date and current with emerging iSeries OS version upgrades.
o Collaborate with peers on integration projects between IP, CW & AX ERP.
o Provide backup support to the iSeries developer handling WMS support.
o Coordinates and provides support, as needed, with the iSeries Systems administrator.

Physical Requirements:
o Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
o Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
o Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible and (at times noisy) work environment.
o Must be able to travel domestically and internationally utilizing various transportation methods.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
o Four (4) year college degree in Computer Science, related fields and/or equivalent experience.
o Minimum six (6) years programming experience in RPG, RPGLE, DDS.
o Advanced knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
o Strong technical background in architecting and implementing solutions written in the RPGLE programming language (IBM iSeries) and ability to work and collaborate in a team environment.
o Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and Project.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills, team player with a commitment to success.
o Able to work well under pressure and with multiple project deadlines.
o Ability to work on long term projects and day-to-day program maintenance responsibilities.
o Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to remain flexible to change within the work environment and scope of responsibility.
o Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
o ERP experience a plus.
o Apparel experience or knowledge a plus
o C+, C# or Java experience a plus.
o Ability to work in a multi-platform, multi OS environment.
o IBM iSeries operation management (i.e. backup and recovery) a plus.
