General Summary:

The Facilities Technician is part of a team of individuals who are responsible for maintaining the buildings, grounds and general systems and services which support the Company’s Ventura campus. The Facilities Technician is primarily responsible for the management of the security alarm systems within all the buildings and providing evening security for all buildings and grounds. S/he is also responsible for directing and overseeing the outside janitorial company, ensuring that the buildings obtain top quality service, and that the buildings and their contents are secure at all times. The Facilities Technician will also provide back up coverage to the Manager of Facilities by becoming well-versed in all building systems and procedures including, but not limited to: HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry.

This is a full time position with hours of 11:00AM- 8:00PM, Tuesday through Friday, 9:00AM-4:00PM Saturdays. From time to time the Facilities Technician maybe required to work overtime and weekends for special projects.

Essential Job Functions:
o Maintain all company alarm systems, codes and keys; educate others as needed.
o Oversee and manage the contracted, nightly cleaning crew in an effort to ensure high standards of cleanliness.
o Build and maintain good relationships between the Company and City/County Offices such as Police and Fire departments; report all pertinent events to the appropriate officials.
o Perform routine building maintenance, upkeep and repair; some carpentry required.
o Maintain exterior lighting and adjust timers with the change of day light savings.
o Responsible for accompanying employees to their vehicles when they are working late hours.
o Responsible for all evening meetings, set up and break down, and/or other event preparation.
o Perform all maintenance tasks which otherwise could not be done during normal business hours.
o Responsible for performing landscape and irrigation maintenance.
o Assist all other facilities department members as needed.

Physical Requirements:
o Continually able to observe and respond to employee’s needs and/or emergencies that might occur during the day (inside or outside environment).
o Continually able to lift up to 70 pounds from the floor to a waist high level.
o Continually able to carry 40 pounds, up to 100 feet.
o Ability to push a cart/dolly weighing up to 100 pounds for up to 100 feet.
o Continually able to walk and run as job dictates.
o Continually able to kneel down to floor level.
o Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
o Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible and (at times noisy) work environment.
o Ability and understanding of how to use power tools.
o Ability to perform light upkeep of company vehicles.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
o 4+ years experience in general maintenance and/or construction with emphasis in: plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry.
o Working knowledge of such programs as: Word, Excel and Outlook.
o Extreme attention to detail and the ability to establish and maintain timelines and schedules.
o Comfortable with team-based work structure or working independently; shows ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job.
o Demonstrates initiative; is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
o Excellent customer service skills, in person, on the phone and in writing.
o Capable of streamlining and improving processes, and troubleshooting.
