The Surf Marketing Coordinator will work directly with the Surf Business Unit Director in coordinating the unit’s marketing strategy and managing its execution across all channels, including the positioning and promotion of products globally. The Surf Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and managing marketing components of the unit’s strategic plan as well as the seasonal marketing plan. This person will be responsible for coordinating marketing efforts like packaging, trade shows, retail display, web sport pages, sport-specific photo and video needs, advertising, product PR, product seeding, ambassador development, and coordination with the pro team and tech reps on events and outreach.
Essential Job Functions:
o Negotiate the development of video and electronic media strategies and materials for the Company’s surf related promotional needs. Partner with Marketing Operations Manager for Surf on production.
o Responsible for tracking and analysis of dollar to exposure effectiveness of all advertising, video and surf ambassador promotions and exposure.
o Responsible for the fiscal development and management of all budgets associated with corporate print advertising, video and surf specific marketing promotions and events.
o Responsible for facilitating surf product placement, reviews and ambassador stories in key surf media publications.
o Responsible for facilitating, promoting, managing budgets and logistics for all surf ambassador special events, travel and product exposure.
Other Job Functions:
o Primary liaison between surf ambassadors and the marketing departments on marketing and product updates, story development and product feedback.
o Primary liaison between publications and surf team for surf specific story promotions, product placement and testing.
o Publication contact for gear guides (online and printed).
o Primary liaison for surf ambassador product, financial and travel budgets and facilitation.
o In partnership with the Marketing Operations Manager, liaison with Europe, Japan & International offices to create ad, video and surf marketing materials that meet their campaign objectives.
o Manage any license details such as property releases and shooting releases & licenses for video shoots and surf ambassador travel
o Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
o Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
o Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
o Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible and (at times noisy) work environment.
o Must be able to travel utilizing various transportation methods.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
o 5 + years Intimate knowledge and experience of the surf market with experience of participation in water sports a plus.
o Excellent knowledge and proficiency of Apple iOS . Working knowledge of: MAC electronic files, graphics programs (In Design and acrobat) and the ability to FTP files required.
o Excellent customer service skills, in person, on the phone and in writing.
o Ability to be discreet in dealing with high profile celebrity surf athletes.
o Ability to be flexible within the job to ensure the best processes/systems for smooth completion of all projects.
o Capable of streamlining and improving processes, and troubleshooting.
o Able to work well under pressure and deadlines. Available to work occasional after-hours in order to meet deadlines.
o Ability to remain flexible to change within the work environment and scope of responsibility.
o Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
