Letters from Sacred Rok is a collection of essays that reflect the impact of nature on underprivileged youth from Merced, California. In 2009, climber and Patagonia ambassador Ron Kauk, and Kenji Hakuta, professor of education at Stanford University, started Sacred Rok, a nonprofit that seeks to help youth learn to respect nature and, through that relationship, respect themselves. These essays and photographs chronicle the adventures and accomplishments of the first four years of the organization.
