El Cap Khaki (ELKH-836)Forge Grey (FGE-961)

Versatile, fast-wicking, quick-drying shorts for hot-weather fishing; specifically designed for poling a flats skiff; 10" inseam.

Spend enough time on the platform and the push pole can wear through pants like a coral head on tippet. But not with our Technical Sunshade shorts. Sure, they’re made from lightweight, quick-drying nylon taslan fabric, but we’ve also reinforced the front high-wear zone with tough, stretch-woven nylon/spandex to resist abrasion. The pockets are reinforced with thermoplastic tape, too. With deep front pockets and two flapped back pockets with hook-and-loop closures (one back pocket also has a zipper to secure valuables), so you won’t have to worry about anything—other than falling into the drink. Inseam is 10".
  • Lightweight, quick-drying shorts, with tough stretch-woven reinforced front protects against abrasion caused by push poles
  • Double hook-and-loop back pockets with zippered closures; one with an additional zipper closure for extra security
  • Elasticized waistband for a comfortable fit
  • Heat-pressed thermoplastic tape reinforces pocket construction and resists abrasion
  • Designed to be worn with the Sunshade Hoody
  • 10" inseam
  • 3.4-oz 100% nylon taslan with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish and 50+ UPF sun protection. Reinforced front: 96% nylon/4% spandex
  • 232 g (8.2 oz)
  • Made in Vietnam.

Water Resistant

DWR
(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Sun Protection

Lacking fur, feathers or scales, we humans have to think up clever ways to protect ourselves from the sun. Products with the UPF designation provide built-in sun protection that won’t wear off.

UPF stands for “Ultraviolet Protection Factor.” This value represents the fractional amount of the sun’s harmful UV rays that pass through a fabric. A rating of “25” indicates that only 1/25th , or 4% of the UV rays pass through the garment.

Patagonia products with rated UPF protection are tested independently to meet Australia/New Zealand or AATCC protocols. A rating of 15-24 earns a product a rating of “good”; a rating of 25-39 is "very good"; and a rating of 40-50+ is “excellent.” *

* When tested in accordance with Australian/New Zealand test methods AS/NZS 4399 or USA test methods AATCC 183/ASTM D6603/ASTM D6544.
