For spring days, this waist-length top is made with 55% organic cotton/45% Tencel® lyocell and has three-quarter-length sleeves.

A little more than 150 years ago, a knitted, striped top became standard-issue for French navy seamen. Our striped Shallow Seas Top is so comfortable and versatile, it will also become part of your warm-weather uniform. It’s made from an organic cotton/Tencel® lyocell jersey blend (55%/45%) that places Tencel next to the skin where it wicks moisture away from the body. The shirt has a scooped neckline with dropped shoulder detail, three-quarter-length sleeves, a rolled fixed cuff and a straight hemline with side slit and slightly longer back. Length falls to waist.
  • Soft-and-stretchy organic cotton and Tencel® lyocell blend
  • Scoop neckline with dropped shoulder detail
  • Three-quarter-length-sleeves feature a fixed rolled cuff
  • Straight hemline has a side slit and is slightly longer in back
  • Waist length

  • Made in Vietnam.

Organic Cotton

In 1996, with an increased awareness of the dangers of pesticide use and synthetic fertilizers in growing conventional cotton, we began the exclusive use of organically grown cotton in all of our cotton products.

The quality of organic cotton is equal to or better than conventionally grown cotton, yet organically grown methods support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, improve the quality of soil and often use less water. Growing organically takes more time, requires more knowledge and skill, and, for now, costs more. But it’s worth it.

To ensure we are buying cotton that is organic as defined by the USDA’s National Organic Program, we require numerous certificates issued by an accredited third-party certification body for every step of the supply chain, from farm to factories.

Wrinkle Resistant

TENCEL® is a branded lyocell fiber that comes from the pulp of eucalyptus trees. The trees are grown on sustainably run farms certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

The eucalyptus wood pulp is dissolved in a non-toxic organic solvent. The solution is extruded through fine holes to produce fiber and the solvent is recycled in a closed-loop process – more than 99% of the solvent is recovered and reused. We ensure that the fabric processing of TENCEL® lyocell fiber does not utilize any harmful chemicals (like formaldehyde).

TENCEL lyocell is a high-tenacity cellulosic fiber, which gives high strength properties to the fabric which can then be used in place of other regenerated cellulose fibers such as viscose rayon.
