Immerse yourself in the vehemence of nature. Inspired by wide open spaces and deep blue water Belinda is a student of the ocean. Each day, Bindy lives free amongst the swells. She says her, “time in the ocean is like returning home; a place to find balance and be led by the flow.”
Between bodysurfing, paddelboarding, and surfing, Bindy spends more time in the water than most people on the planet. Her husband calls her a fish and expects to one day spot a pair of gills! She is always up for an adventure, and sets her sights on off-the-beaten-track locales.
In recent years she has traded the high performance contest scene for a heavy 9’4” single-fin log, using graceful movements, connecting her rides with an elegant poise and technical perfection. This style of surfing is an expression of Bindy’s personality and passion for life.
Residing along the shore of Australia’s Sunshine Coast Belinda lives a simple life with her husband, Dane, and dog ‘Mule’. She sees her opportunities as endless when the goal is to continually connect with the fundamentals of the ocean.

I have always been a “cold frog,” staying away from certain alluring destinations due to the extreme temperatures. Now that I have a new Patagonia R3® Full Suit my world has just expanded! Matched with a hood and gloves there are no more excuses and many uncrowded waves to surf, toasty-warm on the inside.
The women’s Adour Bottoms and Bidart Racer Back (Clare Vermillion) is the most reliable swimsuit I have worn since puberty! They stay on the body in challenging situations, and it’s reassuring to know I can trust what I am wearing and focus on the task at hand. Stuck in the impact zone readjusting a swim suit is the last thing I want to deal with.

"The sea's only gifts are harsh blows with the occasional deep true beauty. Now, I don't know much about the sea, let alone all else, but it seems that way here. And I think I know how important in life it is. Not necessarily to be strong but to feel strong. To measure one's self at least once against the most ancient of conditions, living a dream only to be awake..." - Jack London

Last year, I spent some time working on an exciting new girl’s film Dear and Yonder with Andrea Leister, Tiffany and Thomas Campbell. The film reflects the diversity of girls' surfing talents and gives a positive message. I am excited to see it.

Since moving into my own house, I have really realized how important it is to live simply. Consuming less and recycling wherever possible is a really valuable asset to reducing your carbon footprint on this earth. I am working on ways to turn my household green.
I have just joined a local coast-care organization working on small-scale grassroots activities ranging from digging out trash embedded in our waterways (creeks), to planting trees to help save fragile ecosystems along the shoreline. It has really opened my eyes to the importance of the action of each and every local community on a global scale.
Every person can make a difference by slightly changing old habits like not using plastic while shopping, recycling all that you can, and picking up litter that can be washed into our waterways. These are all small things that don't require much time and money but can really make a difference to our world. The ocean is our playground – let's do all that we can to keep it that way.
