Bio
Dave Ogle was born in Newport Beach, California and raised on and near the water of Newport Harbor from day one. His dad was an avid surfer, fisher and diver and introduced Dave to those activities at an early age.
"I had my first boat when I was just six years old and I've enthusiastically fished, dove and loved the ocean since then," Dave recalls.
During that impressionable time of his life, Dave started surfing and it wasn't long before this new sport became the focus of his life.
"I fondly remember learning to surf at Newport Pier," he says. "My mom would drive me to the beach and watch me learn to swim in the ocean and surf under the pier. After that I was hooked and knew that my life would be consumed by this incredible way of life. I feel the most alive when I'm in the ocean and she is demonstrating her incredible power – whether I'm surfing 20-foot waves at Puerto Escondido or crossing the channel on a boat between Florida and Cuba in 20-30-foot seas."
Dave has a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from Pepperdine University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Developmental Psychology from San Francisco State University.
"I enjoy teaching," he says. "I'm passionate about education and being a part of educating others, from the different languages of the world to the wonders and the needs for protecting and conserving our precious environment.
Dave is an avid filmmaker and founder and president of Costa Esmeralda Productions. He has been filming action sports for over 16 years. "I enjoy telling stories with my moving pictures," he says, "as well as educating, and empowering people who may not have the opportunity to witness, experience, and preserve the many wonders of Mother Nature."
