Product Information Product Footprint
Global warming and habitat destruction have made the need for animals to migrate between shifting habitats urgent – the difference between migrating and remaining within fixed boundaries is the difference between life and extinction. The Freedom To Roam initiative strives to connect North America's critical habitats to ensure the survival of large mammals. A portion from the sale of each Girl's Freedom To Roam T-Shirt will go to support the cause. Original artwork by Jay Ryan is screen-printed on soft, ringspun organic cotton that's garment dyed. Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

Technology

At Patagonia we seek to build the best product and cause no unnecessary harm. That's our mission statement, and it takes many forms. As it applies to making products, we work hard to source materials and use processes that are less harmful to the Earth without compromising quality. Because to us, quality is not only how well a product performs and holds up, but also how it's made.

  • The Good:

Lots: We use organic cotton exclusively. Customers may recycle their used tees through our Common Threads Recycling Program. And we knit, dye, cut, sew and print our tees right here in Southern California.
  • The Bad:

Even organically produced cotton harms the environment; no form of agriculture as practiced is fully sustainable. Moreover, growing cotton is water-intensive. And though the majority of the inks we use are PVC-free, our tees won't be completely PVC-free until spring 2009.
  • What We Think:

T-shirts, as our most popular clothing item, reflect every bit of environmental knowledge we possess. But every human activity pollutes and, alas, our tees are no exception.
