Inevitably, we all cross paths – the message behind the Freedom to Roam T-Shirt that emphasizes the need for enough space to cross harmoniously. Five dollars from the sale of this t-shirt with original art by Jason Stowell goes to the Freedom to Roam initiative (www.freedomtoroam.org), a coalition of businesses, environmental groups, ranchers and recreation organizations working together to protect the largest wildlife corridors in North America. Made from 100% organic cotton, the shirt is recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

Technology

At Patagonia we seek to build the best product and cause no unnecessary harm. That's our mission statement, and it takes many forms. As it applies to making products, we work hard to source materials and use processes that are less harmful to the Earth without compromising quality. Because to us, quality is not only how well a product performs and holds up, but also how it's made.

  • The Good:

Lots: We use organic cotton exclusively. Customers may recycle their used tees through our Common Threads Recycling Program. We knit, dye, cut, sew and print our tees right here in Southern California. And, the inks we use on our tees are completely PVC and Phthalate free.
  • The Bad:

Even organically produced cotton harms the environment; no form of agriculture as practiced is fully sustainable. Moreover, growing cotton is water-intensive.
  • What We Think:

T-shirts, as our most popular clothing item, reflect every bit of environmental knowledge we possess. But every human activity pollutes and, alas, our tees are no exception.
