Last year, the U.S. Forest Service highlighted the Lewis River Trail as a priority for invasive plant mapping and removal. In particular, small patches of shade-tolerant herb-Robert have been found in old-growth forest stands along the trail. For this trip, we will backpack along Lewis River Falls Trail to remove herb-Robert before it takes hold in this special area. We will be accompanied by a botany expert from the USFS. who will help direct our work and teach participants about local flora.
