General Summary:

Traditionally, the apparel industry globally has been driven by fast fashion, which does not take the environmental and social impacts of garment manufacturing into account, and Patagonia Sportswear seeks to disrupt and challenge this model. At Patagonia, the Sportswear business unit exists to pioneer and scale environmental and social responsibility, and in recent years has introduced new initiatives including recycled nylon, recycled down, natural dyes and Fair Trade. Partnering with the VP Global Sportswear, it is the Global Marketing Manager's (GMM) responsibility to drive the Sportswear global category marketing strategy. This includes a multi-channel strategy for seasonal storytelling, supporting the brand marketing team with seasonal supply chain storytelling, as well as supporting ongoing brand-level marketing initiatives. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with the Sportswear line management team to identify and position key seasonal stories.
  • Develop strategic seasonal briefs and work across the marketing organization to develop globally relevant campaigns that support both sell-in and sell-through of key Sportswear products, based on consumer insights.
  • Work with marketing leadership to develop a strategy that will support Sportswear category growth over time via all channels.
  • Work closely with the Social and Environmental Responsibility team to identify seasonal consumer engagement and storytelling opportunities around important issues.
  • Develop relationships with regional counterparts to understand their needs and drive overall support and implementation from a global perspective (research, strategy, growth opportunities, development and implementation of seasonal tools).
  •  Activate Sportswear key stories in NA in alignment with the functional marketing team. Collaborate with the functional, VDG and Retail Marketing team in order to implement strategies for the US Patagonia Retail and Wholesale accounts in order to define promotional needs to support sell in and sell trough.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget against a clearly defined brief (written by the GMM) with pre-agreed KPIs.
  • Work closely with marketing leadership on the development of brand-level marketing initiatives.
  • Work seamlessly with all marketing functions including digital, retail, PR, operations and content production to ensure effective integrated storytelling.
  • Support the GTM process for Sportswear and ensure that milestones are hit from marketing.
  • Create recap decks that quantifies a sales and impression matrix for key seasonal category stories.

    Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • College degree. MBA preferred, but not required.
  • 7-10+ years of global marketing experience.
  • Apparel / Outdoor / Global / Multi-Channel experience preferred.
  • Experience with industry sustainable, global environmental, and social best practices preferred.
  • Strong writing, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Excellent customer service skills, in person, on the phone and in writing.
  • Ability to be flexible within the job to ensure the best processes/systems for smooth completion of all projects.
  • Capable of streamlining and improving processes, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to remain flexible to change within the work environment and scope of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
