Superlightweight yet durable, nylon is one of the strongest materials we use in our garments and equipment.
Nylon is one of the strongest plastics we use in our garments and equipment, but like most plastics derived from petroleum, making nylon pollutes the land, water and air.
We’re making progress
When we need a superlightweight yet durable fabric, nylon is vital for its strength and moisture-wicking properties. We still use a great deal of nylon, but we’ve switched to recycled sources for most of it: In our Fall 2021 line, only 2% of our entire material usage by weight includes virgin nylon.
Like polyester, nylon fiber is made from petroleum. Our goal is to stop using virgin petroleum-based fabrics and materials altogether.
