With the winter storm cycle dumping powder for days, it can be hard to get much done at home. But after charging the glades all morning, there are still paths to be shoveled and dogs to be walked. Insulated with 100% Traceable Down (600-fill-power duck down that can be traced back to birds that were never force-fed, never live-plucked), the Bivy Down Jacket features a tough but flexible quilted nylon canvas shell with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish that’s bluesign® approved. The two side-entry handwarmer pockets are lined with brushed polyester jersey; an internal zippered left-chest pocket keeps your keys and phone secure. Stand-up collar and drop-tail hem hold the cold out while you work, and the full-length zipper has an additional wind flap with metal snaps. Hip length.

Water Resistant

DWR
(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more

Men's Bivy Down Jacket is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Form over function I got this to get me through chilly night / morning walks with our puppy this winter. This jacket is fine, but it seems like they just fell in love with the retro styling without much consideration of how people would actually use it outside when the weather is cold enough for a down jacket. It could be so much better with some small tweaks. The tiny, cheap metal zipper is hard to thread at the bottom- and impossible with gloves on. Using a sturdier zipper and adding a zipper pull would be a simple fix. The neck opening is way too large, allowing cold air in, and the metal zipper to rub your chin (as there is no fabric chin-guard). The shell is brushed fabric so it collects lint, and on the dark blue color, it always looks dirty as if you just dragged it across the floor. Hand pockets are open, not zippered (or buttoned/snap/velcro), making it easy for keys or a phone to fall out. The sleeves have no cuffs and a wide opening which allows cold air in. It would also be useful to add a zippered chest pocket for a phone, easily accessible with gloves on. Hope they listen to their customers and make some tweaks. Otherwise, this jacket is fine... if you don't mind some winter air coming in at the neck and wrists.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but, I love the durable exterior compared to the down sweater. I know it as billed as a casual jacket, but it really needs zippers on the pockets. My hat and gloves tend to fall out. Also, a much larger interior pocket. The current pocket is almost useless. You could put unobtrusive zippers on the pockets and not effect the look of the jacket. A hooded version would be nice as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warm but.... Good warmth but needs elastic cuffs, draw string on hem and a much better zipper. The zipper doesn't always lock at the bottom , difficult to thread zipper .nice stlyling but the blue color attracts dust, looks dirty all the time. Good quality on the stiching also nice more durable exterior shell ,needs a bit more room to accommodate a thicker under layer, add a horizontal inner pocket to make it perfect

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great winter coat! I received this coat as a Christmas gift from my parents. I have and love my other Patagonia products but this jacket in particular is by far my favorite. The colors are very stylish, it is not bulky and very light weight. Warmest jacket I have in my closet. I use it as I drive very early in the mornings in my topless jeep to go surfing. And warm up after a surf sesh. Plan on using it to go back packing soon. Overall you will fall in love with this coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Winter Jacket I bought the Mens Bivy Jacket without ever trying it on prior to purchase. It had that great retro look, and from the description was very warm, without being bulky. When I received the jacket it was exactly as advertised, warm, great fit, and still allows mobility. I ordered the XL (6'3'' 215) and it fit great, the large would have been too small. The first time I wore it, everyone said the same thing" Wow nice jacket", and then they mentioned the retro look. Very happy with the Bivy so far, we'll see how it handles the tough east coast winters.
