At frigid belays, forced bivies and just plain January—all the usual alpinists’ fare—the Fitz Roy Down Parka gives incredible loft and expedition-level warmth at only 19 ounces. Traceable Down (800-fill-power goose down from geese traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked, as certified by NSF, an independent third party traps your heat inside a fully baffled 100% nylon shell with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish that sheds snow and moisture, and utilizes a special high-sheen fabric construction in the hood, shoulders and arms for enhanced water resistance. The helmet-compatible, single-pull hood has an internal heat-locking high-loft chamber on the back of the neck, and internal draft tubes eliminate cold spots along the 2-way center-front zipper. Cut long with a full coverage drop-tail hem (dual-adjust cord locks lock in warmth); three exterior zippered pockets (two high handwarmers and an exterior left chest); and one large, internal drop-in pocket for warming frozen gloves. Soft, low-profile, internal elastic-bound cuffs push up easily, and the included stuffsack has a built-in clip-in loop.
  • Lightweight and durable 100% nylon Pertex Quantum® fabrics throughout; a high-sheen Pertex Quantum built with Y-shaped filament technology on the hood, shoulders and arms has interlocking Y-shaped nylon fibers to enhance DWR (durable water repellent) performance

Water Resistant

DWR
(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more

Men's Fitz Roy Down Parka is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best coat I've owned Living in Idaho and spending as much time outdoors in all weather I am a coat and jacket hound. Just ask my wife. The Fitz Roy Parka is the best cool and cold weather coat I have owned. I packed it and used it in December in Torres Del Paine while hiking in 40 degree F temps in the wind and was comfortable. I've used it since in Idaho and Wyoming with temps at - 18 degrees F. Still comfortable. If the weather is wet and I still need warmth, I just wear a waterproof shell over the top. Light, packable, warm and substantially wind proof. Love the parka.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I expected and more in a down parka. This is the first down parka I've owned in over 40 years and it exceeds all of my expectations. The lightweight along with the unique construction of the sleeves and relaxed fit have changed my attitude regarding the cold. I wore it skiing during December and early January skiing when the temperature was close to zero. With only a lightweight set of long underwear I never felt the least bit chilled. Since my core was so warm my feet and hands stayed warmer than they usually do when the temperature gets close to zero. A slight opening of the zipper at the bottom and top allowed me to cool off quickly if I was starting to overheat. An added bonus is using it with my 3 seasons sleeping back to winter camp. Well worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Warm! Fits great under my shell. Be careful about snags though, the seams are exposed. Wouldn't wear as an exterior jacket. Very toasty though!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versitile Been using this coat for the last month in Montana. Great for warming up, post run, with a beer in the parking lot. Also, packs down really nice for long days in the mountains. Really excited to have this in my bag come ski season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Put it to the test in the Rockies This jacket saved me on some cold nights getting ready to ascend rocky mountain national park routes in the winter. Great for those who need a little more warmth on belay ledges than some other synthetics give you. Packs down to a manageable size. Weight is great too!
